Abstract

A scheme is proposed for the deterministic generation of three-dimensional entanglement of two distant atoms separately trapped in two optical cavities connected by an optical fiber. Employing adiabatic passage along dark states, the atoms are always in ground states, in particular, the fiber mode remains in the vacuum state due to the quantum destructive interference, and the population of the cavities being excited can be negligible under certain conditions. In this sense, our scheme constructs an effective way to avoid the atomic spontaneous emission and the decays of fiber and cavities.

SCHEME FOR GENERATION OF GREENBERGER-HORNE-ZEILINGER STATES OF REMOTE ATOMS TRAPPED IN SEPARATE OPTICAL CAVITIES

Wei Xiong, Ye Liu

We propose a scheme for generating maximally entangled states for three atoms trapped in three distant cavities connected by two identical single-mode fibers. During the operation, neither the atomic system nor the fibers are excited, which is important in view of decoherence. Under certain conditions, the probability of the excited cavities can be negligible. Taking advantage of adiabatic passage, the GHZ state can be generated deterministically, and the fidelity of entanglement is insensitive to fluctuation of experimental parameters. Compared to the previous schemes, the significant advantage of the proposed scheme is that each cavity can interact with the other two directly, which can avoid the effect of indirect interaction brought about using only local quantum operator and nonlocal resources.

Generation of tree-type three-dimensional entangled states via adiabatic passage

Chong Song, Shi‐Lei Su, Jin‐Lei Wu +3 more

We propose a scheme for generating a type of novel tree-type three-dimensional entangled state. In the scheme, an atom and two Bose--Einstein condensates (BECs) are individually trapped in three spatially separated optical cavities which are connected by two optical fibers. Because the system evolves along the dark state via adiabatic passage, the populations of the intermediate excited states of the atom and BECs are so negligible that the influence of atomic spontaneous radiation on the fidelity is restrained. In addition, because of the certain limit condition used, the cavity decay and fiber loss are efficiently suppressed. This novel three-dimensional entangled state is likely to have applications for improving quantum communication security.

Robust generation of qutrit entanglement via adiabatic passage of dark states

Zhen‐Biao Yang, Huai‐Zhi Wu, Zheng Shi-Biao

We propose a scheme for the deterministic generation of qutrit entanglement for two atoms trapped in an optical cavity. Taking advantage of the adiabatic passage, the operation is immune to atomic spontaneous emission as the atomic excited states are never populated; under certain conditions, the probability that the cavity is excited is negligible. We also study the influences of the dissipation due to the atomic spontaneous emission and cavity decay.

Dispersive atom-field interaction scheme for three-dimensional entanglement between two spatially separated atoms

Xin‐You Lü, Jibing Liu, Chunling Ding +1 more

We propose a scheme for deterministically generating three-dimensional (3D) entanglement between two distant five-level atoms based on the dispersive atom-field interaction. In our scheme, the two atoms are trapped separately in two spatially separated optical cavities coupled by an optical fiber. To check the experimental feasibility of our scheme, we numerically simulated effects of the atomic spontaneous decay and photon leakage out of the fiber, and the numerical simulation shows that those effects can be suppressed by appropriately choosing the frequency detuning of atom-field and the coupling intensity of cavity fiber, respectively. We also discussed the influence of photon leakage out of the cavities, and the strictly numerical simulation shows our proposal is good enough to demonstrate the generation of 3D entanglement with high fidelity and within the current experimental technology.

Deterministic generation of entangled coherent states for two atomic samples

LU Dao-ming, Zheng Shi-Biao

This paper proposes an efficient scheme for deterministic generation of entangled coherent states for two atomic samples. In the scheme two collections of atoms are trapped in an optical cavity and driven by a classical field. Under certain conditions the two atomic samples evolve from an coherent state to an entangled coherent state. During the interaction the cavity mode is always in the vacuum state and the atoms have no probability of being populated in the excited state. Thus, the scheme is insensitive to both the cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission.

Preparation of four-dimensional entangled states in separate cavities via adiabatic passage

Ping Wang, Meifeng Chen

A scheme is proposed to deterministically generate four-dimensional entangled states for two distant atoms trapped in two separate cavities via adiabatic passage by one step. An optimal expression of time-dependent Rabi frequencies is selected through numerical simulation. Numerical simulation also shows that the excited probabilities of the atoms, the cavity modes and the fiber modes are very low during adiabatic passage, and the scheme is insensitive to the fluctuation of experimental parameters. The four-dimensional entanglement may be generated with high fidelity with current experimental technology.
