Abstract

It is shown that a three-level laser can become the first example of an optically active system to generate a squeezed-field state.Received 27 February 1990DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevA.42.3065©1990 American Physical Society

Squeezed light from conventionally pumped multilevel lasers

Timothy C. Ralph, Craig M. Savage

We calculate amplitude squeezing spectra for the light from a variety of conventionally pumped three- and four-level lasers. Hence we extend a recent prediction that a certain three-level laser can generate nonclassical light without the need for rigged pumping.

Squeezing via a two-photon transition in a system of driven three-level atoms

Tran Quang

Generation of squeezing via a two-photon transition in a system of three-level atoms, strongly driven by two resonant fields is investigated. Spontaneous emission, cavity damping, and collective effects are accounted for. It is shown that in the steady-state regime, strong squeezing can be generated.
