Abstract

The essential magnetostatic parameters of asymmetric interferometers with two Josephson junctions must often be deduced from measured envelopes of all flux quantum states in the current plane. Diagrams are given for a graphical evaluation of parameters.

Three-Josephson-Junction Interferometer

Don L. Stuehm, Carl W. Wilmsen

The three-Josephson-junction asymmetric-feed quantum interferometer has been analyzed and shown to have increased magnetic field sensitivity and amplitude deviation over the two-junction interferometer. The critical current at zero applied field is shown to be less than the critical current at zero flux in the interference loop.

Static interferometer characteristics with many equal Josephson junctions

R. Simons, W. Jutzi, H. Beha

Flux quantum states (FQS) of interferometers with up to ten equal Josephson point junctions are characterized in the phase and current plane. Their symmetry properties are derived. Simple formulas are given to design interferometers being equivalent to uniformly distributed Josephson junctions.

Asymmetric 2-Josephson-junction interferometer as a logic gate

H. Beha

For an interferometer with two unequal Josephson point junctions, the maximum Josephson current, as well as the corresponding control current, is given in closed form as a function of one junction phase. In contrast to 3-Josephson-junction interferometers, with maximum Josephson currents I01=I02/2=I03, 2-junction interferometers, with maximum Josephson currents I01=5I02, can have larger current gain, slope and less device area.

Static Characteristics ot Superconducting lnter(erometers with Nb-NbO:Pbln Josephson Junctions*

Anna Maria Cucolo, M. R. Saggese, G. Patern +1 more

Planar interferometers with two Nb-NbOx-Pbln functions have been fabricated. Because of the peculiar configuration adopted, both a symmetric and an asymmetric current bias are possible on the same sample. The loop area is on a plane perpendicular to the cross section of the functions, and, therefore, the flux coupled to them is negligible. ThreshoM curves have been measured for different values of the characteristic parameter fl = LI1/qbo, where 1i and L are the maximum Josephson current and the inductance of the interferometer and C~o is the flux quantum. The dependence of the current modulation depth upon fl has been also investigated. A comparison of the experimental data with the theory shows quantitative agreement.

Dynamics of double-Josephson-junction interferometers

James A. Blackburn, H. Smith

The behavior of a superconducting loop containing two Josephson junctions has been studied by means of computer simulations. It is found that a current-biased system can exhibit various dynamical modes in which flux quanta alternately enter and leave the loop through the junctions. The nature of these coupled oscillations and their dependence on device parameters are discussed.

Self-Induced Resonances in Asymmetric Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices

T. P. Polak, E. Sarnelli

Theory of self-induced resonances in asymmetric two-junction interferometer device is presented. An extension of previous theoretical approaches contains inclusions from several asymmetries: the Josephson current , capacitances χ and dissipation ρ presented in an equivalent circuit. Our theory can be useful to determine asymmetry parameters always present in lightly damped asymmetric SQUIDs made from low-and high-T C materials.
