The antibunching and the quantum beat of the interaction of a cascade three-level atom with two radiation fields

Abstract

The time evolution of the antibunching and quantum beat is studied by considering the resonant interaction of two radiation fields with a cascade three-level atom. It is found that different initial atomic states and different ratios of the average photon number of two radiation fields as well as the different coupling coefficients have a remarkable influence on the antibunching and quantum beat of two radiation fields. By numerical summation and a number of figures, it is interesting to note that under certain conditions, some strange behaviour occurs in this cascade three-level atomic system. The explanation of these strange behaviours is given.

Quantum statistical properties of the non-resonant interaction of a three-level atom with two radiation fields

Songen Sun

Quantum statistical properties such as first-order coherence, antibunching, sub-Poisson distribution and the probability distribution of photon number are studied by considering the non-resonant interaction of two radiation fields with a ' Lambda ' structure three-level atom. It is found that the different detunings and the different ratios of average photon number of two radiation fields as well as the time regime have a remarkable influence on quantum statistical properties of the two radiation fields. The author also emphasises that the initial atomic state plays an important role in the non-resonant interaction and tries to explore the connections among these non-classical effects.

Sub-Poisson Distribution of a Radiation Field in a Cascade Three-Level Atomic System

Song-Gen Sun, Daning Shi

In a cascade three-level atomic system, a parametric study of sub-Poisson or super-Poisson distribution of a stimulated field was performed. By numerical calculation and figures, we investigated the time evolution of the sub-Poisson distribution of a radiation field. We found that different atomic initial states and different ratios of photon numbers of two radiation fields as well as different ratios of two transitions have a remarkable influence on this distribution. It is interesting to note that under certain conditions, in this cascade structure, there is a high degree of super-Poisson distribution that has not been reported in other structures. We try to explore this anomaly in detail.

Quantum properties of a three-level atom interacting with two radiation fields

Xiao-shen Li, Yue-nan Peng

The quantum-statistical model for a three-level atom interacting with two radiation fields is studied. The mean atomic occupations and photon numbers are obtained under different initial conditions of one coherent field and one chaotic field or both chaotic or coherent fields, with the atom in upper or lower states. Through numerical summation, it is shown that the effects of coherent sources and chaotic sources are different even for low intensities. Meanwhile the effects of detuning on this interaction are discussed.

Quantum properties of the binomial state field interacting with a cascade three-level atom

Chunlei Jiang

Antibunching effect and squeezing property of the binomial state field interact- ing with a cascade three-level atom are studied by using quantum theory and calculation method, and the influences of initial field parameters on the quantum properties of the field are discussed. The results are that, firstly, when the field is initially in a coherent state, its antibunching effect can be displayed discontinuously and squeezing effect can be exhibited in a short time;Secondly, when the initial field is in a middle state between the coherent state and number state, the field shows antibunching effect continuously and the deep degree and sustained time of its squeezing effect increase; Finally, while when the initial field transmits to a fock state, the field reveals continuously antibunching effect but its squeezing effect weak- ens to disappear. Our results show that binomial state field displays remarkable no-classical properties when it interacts with a cascade three-level atom.

Photon antibunching effects of q-deformed odd coherent light field interacting with a cascade three-level atom

Zhang Hui-hui

The nonlinear theory of interaction between q-deformed odd coherent light field and a cascade three-level atom is established. And the formal solution of Schrdinger equation in the representation and its average number are obtained. Then, the influence of q-deformed on photon antibunching effects is studied through numerical calculation. The results show that the q-deformed has much ability of control to the photon antibunching effects. It reflects that q-deformed nonlinear action has influence on the quantum coherence and quantum properties. When q→1,the theory reduces to the common linear theory.

Dynamics of photon number quantum fluctuations in multiphoton processes

Valentine I. Zakharov, Vladimir G. Tyuterev

This paper discusses the principles of reduction of quantum noise in optical radiation. The dynamics of photon number fluctuations in direct and cascade two-photon processes is investigated. The paper considers the cases of absorption and emission for the fields originally prepared in coherent and thermal states. It is shown that photon antibunching and bunching should occur for the passed radiation. The photon antibunching effect is only in definite time intervals of field interaction with resonance absorbing or emitting systems. The possible cases of accumulation of photon antibunching effects are considered.
