Abstract

The quantum-statistical model for a three-level atom interacting with two radiation fields is studied. The mean atomic occupations and photon numbers are obtained under different initial conditions of one coherent field and one chaotic field or both chaotic or coherent fields, with the atom in upper or lower states. Through numerical summation, it is shown that the effects of coherent sources and chaotic sources are different even for low intensities. Meanwhile the effects of detuning on this interaction are discussed.

Quantum statistical properties of the non-resonant interaction of a three-level atom with two radiation fields

Songen Sun

Quantum statistical properties such as first-order coherence, antibunching, sub-Poisson distribution and the probability distribution of photon number are studied by considering the non-resonant interaction of two radiation fields with a ' Lambda ' structure three-level atom. It is found that the different detunings and the different ratios of average photon number of two radiation fields as well as the time regime have a remarkable influence on quantum statistical properties of the two radiation fields. The author also emphasises that the initial atomic state plays an important role in the non-resonant interaction and tries to explore the connections among these non-classical effects.

A QUANTUM-STATISTICAL THREE-LEVEL CASCADE JAYNES-CUMMINGS MODEL

Xiao-shen Li, 江西师范大学物理系

A quantum-statistical model for a three-level cascade atom interacting with radiation fields initially in coherent states is presented. By means of numerical summation and saddle-point approximation, the expectation values of the atomic-level operators and the photon numbers are obtained and discussed, which reveals the phenomena such -as the twophoton transitions and the new collapse and revival.

The interaction of a cascade three-level atominitially in the low state with two initially coherent fields is .investigated by using the properties of Poissonian distribution and Taylor expansion for the means of the atomic level occupations and the photon numbers as well as the dipole moments. Compared with the results of the numerical computation, the analytical results represent more clearly the quantum effects of the system

Quantum statistical properties of modes in a three-level atom with multiphoton transition interacting with two cavity fields

Shibing Liu

The quantum statistical properties of two field modes are studied for a three-level atom with multiphoton transition interacting with two cavity fields. By numerical calculations it is shown that, in the continual absorbing and emitting photons of the interacting system a "photon submergence," the bunching and antibunching effects of two modes, exists. In addition, the impact of the atom's one transition photon numbers and the initial mean photon number of two modes on these effects are discussed in detail.

Statistic Properties of Photon in System of Two-mode EntangledCoherent State Interacting with a Ξ-Type Three-level Atom

Zhuo‐Liang Cao

The statistic properties of photon in the system of a two-mode entangled coherent state interacting with a Ξ-type three-level atom are investigated by solving Schrdinger equation and using numerical calculations. The effects on the statistic properties of photon induced by the degree of entanglement of the two-mode entangled coherent state, the ground state probability amplitude of the atomic initial state, the detuning, the atom-field coupling constant and the mean photon number are analyzed. The results indicate that the influence of the degree of entanglement of the two-mode entangled coherent state on the statistic properties of photon is small. The increasing of the ground state probability amplitude of the atomic initial state causes the center of the time evolution curve to move up distinctly. The increasing of the detuning results in the decrease of the oscillating frequency of the time evolution curve. The influences of the atom-field coupling constant and the mean photon number on the statistic properties of photon are noticeable. The correlation of the two modes of light is non-classical all the time.

Quantum statistical characteristics of the interaction between two two-level atoms and radiation field

M. Sebawe Abdalla, Eied Mahmoud Khalil, A.‐S. F. Obada +2 more

A quantum optics model is considered where the cavity field interacts with two coupled atoms. The time-dependent wave function is obtained and used to derive the density matrix from which we discussed some statistical properties for the present system. The atom-atom entanglement, atoms-cavity entanglement, entropy and variance squeezing, the Pegg-Barrnet phase and the fidelity are discussed with the effects of the initial conditions, atom-atom coupling and the detuning parameter displayed. It is shown that an increase in the value of the atom-atom coupling parameter leads to an increase in the degree of entanglement. Numerical results show that under some conditions the phenomena of entanglement and the collapses and the revivals emerge. Nonclassical properties are demonstrated by means of the field quantum statistical characteristics, such as photon-number distribution, Husimi, Wigner and Glauber-Sudarshan quasidistributions and the corresponding variances.
