Abstract

Abstract We have theoretically studied efficiency of entangled‐photon generation from a quantum well embedded in a microcavity, and have found considerable enhancement of the efficiency. We have determined an optimal condition for achieving the strong enhancement, which is qualitatively understood from a characteristic feature of the cavity QED. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Entangled‐photon generation from a quantum dot in cavity QED

Hiroshi Ajiki, Hajime Ishihara

Abstract We theoretically study polarization‐entangled photon generation from a single quantum dot in a microcavity. Entangled‐photon pairs with singlet or triplet Bell states are generated in the resonant‐hyperparametric scattering via dressed states in the cavity QED. Although co‐polarized non‐entangled photons are also generated, the generation is dramatically suppressed in the strong‐coupling limit owing to the photon blockade effect. Finite binding energy of biexciton is also important for the generation of photon pairs with high degree of entanglement. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

Cavity effect on generation of entangled-photon pairs from biexcitons

Hiroshi Ajiki, Hajime Ishihara

We theoretically present that generation of entangled-photon pairs from biexcitons in a quantum well is dramatically enhanced by using a microcavity. It’s optimal condition is qualitatively understood from the characteristic feature of the cavity QED.

Degree of entanglement of photon pairs generated from V‐type system in microcavity

Hiroshi Ajiki, Hajime Ishihara

Abstract We propose polarization‐entangled photon generation via resonant hyper‐parametric scattering of a V‐type system in microcavity. Although a bare V‐type system cannot generate entangled photon pairs, microcavity makes the generation possible because of the formation of dressed states. In the strong‐coupling limit, generation of non‐entangled co‐polarized photons is considerably suppressed due to the photon blockade effect. Furthermore, some entangled photons have different frequencies from those of the input fields, and thus, we can utilize spectral filtering in order to extract entangled photons. Effects of unbound two‐exciton states on entangled photons generated from a cavity biexciton

Hisaki Oka, Hajime Ishihara

Abstract We theoretically investigate entangled‐photon generation via biexciton in a planar microcavity. When the exciton‐photon coupling is comparable to the biexciton binding energy, the biexciton can be stably coupled with the cavity photons (referred to as a cavity biexciton). Entangled photons are generated by the cascade decay of the cavity biexciton. We show that high‐efficient generation of entangled photons can be achieved when the superposition state of a cavity biexciton and two cavity polaritons formed by unbound two‐exciton states is realized. Second‐order correlation function of entangled photons from a quantum dot in microcavity

Hiroshi Ajiki, Hajime Ishihara

Abstract We theoretically study cross‐polarized entangled photon generation from a single quantum dot in microcavity. Generation of co‐polarized non‐entangled photons is suppressed in the strong‐coupling limit due to the photon blockade effect. Normalized second‐order correlation function shows quantum beat resulting from interference between two kinds of entangled photons. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

Entangled-Photon Generation in Biexcitonic Cavity QED

Hiroshi Ajiki, Hajime Ishihara

We present a new concept of entangled photon generation via biexciton from a quantum-well embedded in a microcavity. The coupled states of the biexciton and cavity photons play an important role in the entangled photon generation. In fact, a suitable design of the level scheme of the coupled states can considerably enhance the generation process. We present the optimal condition for entangled photon generation in terms of the biexcitonic cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED).
