Linearized coherent states for Hamiltonian systems with two equidistant ladder spectra

Abstract

A simple way to construct exactly solvable Hamiltonians whose spectra contain two equidistant ladders, one finite and another infinite, appears when applying supersymmetric quantum mechanics to the harmonic oscillator. Some of those supersymmetric partners have third order differential ladder operators, although the order of the transformation is higher than one. In this work the linearized coherent states for these specific Hamiltonians are studied. To each SUSY partner Hamiltonian corresponds two families of linearized coherent states: one inside the subspace associated with the isospectral part of the spectrum and another one in the finite subspace generated by the states inserted through the SUSY technique.

Coupled supersymmetry and ladder structures beyond the harmonic oscillator

Cameron L. Williams, Nikhil N. Pandya, Bernhard G. Bodmann +1 more

The development of supersymmetric (SUSY) quantum mechanics has shown that some of the insights based on the algebraic properties of ladder operators related to the quantum mechanical harmonic oscillator (QMHO) carry over to the study of more general systems. At this level of generality, pairs of eigenfunctions of so-called partner Hamiltonians are transformed into each other, but the entire spectrum of any one of them cannot be deduced from this intertwining relationship in general – except in special cases. In this paper, we present a more general structure that provides all eigenvalues for a class of Hamiltonians that do not factor into a pair of operators satisfying canonical commutation relations. Instead of a pair of partner Hamiltonians, we consider two pairs that differ by an overall shift in their spectrum. This is called coupled supersymmetry. In that case, we also develop coherent states and present some uncertainty principles which generalise the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. Coupled SUSY is explicitly realised by an infinite family of differential operators which admit orthonormal bases of eigenfunctions of generalised harmonic oscillators.

Higher-order supersymmetric quantum mechanics

David J. Fernández C.

We review the higher‐order supersymmetric quantum mechanics (H‐SUSY QM), which involves differential intertwining operators of order greater than one. The iterations of first‐order SUSY transformations are used to derive in a simple way the higher‐order case. The second order technique is addressed directly, and through this approach unexpected possibilities for designing spectra are uncovered. The formalism is applied to the harmonic oscillator: the corresponding H‐SUSY partner Hamiltonians are ruled by polynomial Heisenberg algebras which allow a straight construction of the coherent states.

Coherent states for Hamiltonians generated by supersymmetry

David J Fernández, Véronique Hussin, Oscar Rosas-Ortiz

Coherent states are derived for one-dimensional systems generated by supersymmetry from an initial Hamiltonian with a purely discrete spectrum for which the levels depend analytically on their subindex. It is shown that the algebra of the initial system is inherited by its SUSY partners in the subspace associated to the isospectral part or the spectrum. The technique is applied to the harmonic oscillator, infinite well and trigonometric Poeschl-Teller potentials.

Second-order supersymmetric operators and excited states

Micheal S. Berger, Nail S. Ussembayev

Factorization of quantum mechanical Hamiltonians has been a useful technique for some time. This procedure has been given an elegant description by supersymmetric quantum mechanics, and the subject has become well developed. We demonstrate that the existence of raising and lowering operators for the harmonic oscillator (and many other potentials) can be extended to their supersymmetric partners. The double supersymmetry (or a factorization chain) is used to obtain non-singular isospectral potentials, and the explicit expressions for the ladder operators, wavefunctions and probability densities are provided. This application avoids the technical complexities of the most general approaches, and requires relatively modest methods from supersymmetric quantum mechanics.

Supersymmetric quantum mechanics, multiphoton algebras and coherent states

Juan D. García-Muñoz, David J. Fernández C., F Vergara-Méndez

Abstract The multiphoton algebras for one-dimensional Hamiltonians with infinite discrete spectrum, and for their associated kth-order SUSY partners are studied. In both cases, such an algebra is generated by the multiphoton annihilation and creation operators, as well as by Hamiltonians which are functions of an appropriate number operator. The algebras obtained turn out to be polynomial deformations of the corresponding single-photon algebra previously studied in literature. The Barut-Girardello coherent states, which are eigenstates of the annihilation operator, are obtained and their uncertainty relations are explored by means of the associated quadratures.

One dimensional Dirac-Moshinsky oscillator-like system and isospectral partners

Alonso Contreras-Astorga

Two different exactly solvable systems are constructed using the supersymmetric quantum mechanics formalism and a pseudoscalar one-dimensional version of the Dirac- Moshinsky oscillator as a departing system. One system is built using a first-order SUSY transformation. The second is obtained through the confluent supersymmetry algorithm. The two of them are explicitly designed to have the same spectrum as the departing system and pseudoscalar potentials.
