Light-Shift Suppression with Novel Variants of Adaptive Ramsey Spectroscopy

M. Shuker, J. W. Pollock, John E. Kitching +4 more

We present a brief review of the rapidly growing field of autobalanced Ramsey spectroscopy followed by a detailed discussion and review of two novel techniques that were developed and tested in our laboratory: displaced frequency-jump Ramsey spectroscopy and combined error signal spectroscopy. These two techniques are related to, yet different from autobalanced Ramsey spectroscopy. The use of these techniques in a cold-atom clock based on coherent population trapping has reduced instabilities from variations in light-shift parameters by at least one order of magnitude. In each of these techniques the Ramsey sequence adapts to cancel light shifts and drifts.

Minimization of magnetic field-induced shifts in the 171Yb+ ion frequency standard for Ramsey and Hyper-Ramsey spectroscopy

D. S. Krysenko, Прудников Олег Николаевич, Valery Yudin +2 more

We have researched the possibility of Ramsey and Hyper-Ramsey spectroscopy of 171Yb+ ion octupole transition 2S1/2 (F=0) → 2F7/2 (F=3) in small magnetic fields. A comparative analysis of the shifts of the central resonance in Ramsey and Hyper-Ramsey spectroscopy was carried out. In particular, probe light parameters such as intensity, Rabi frequency and magnetic field values have been determined for achievement the influence of non-linear light shift and second-order Zeeman shift on central resonance shift no more than 10-19.

Calculation of Spectroscopy Response of Probe Field in AC Stark Effect by Phase analysis Method

Dong Tai

In the experiments of ac Stark effect, the energy level shift of atoms is measured by use of the spectroscopy peak position shift of probe field. The phase analysis method is not only convenient in the calculation of energy level shift for antoms, but also convenient in the calculation of spectroscopy response for probe field. The application of the method to probe field is discussed in the paper.
