Abstract

Entropy squeezing is examined in the framework of Shannon information entropy for a degenerate Raman process involving two degenerate Rydberg energy levels of an atom interacting with a single-mode cavity field. Quantum squeezing in entropy is exhibited via the entropic uncertainty relation.

SHANNON INFORMATION AND ENTROPY SQUEEZING OF TWO FIELDS PARAMETRIC FREQUENCY CONVERTER INTERACTING WITH A SINGLE-ATOM

Mahmoud Abdel‐Aty, A.‐S. F. Obada, M. Sebawe Abdalla

In terms of a new Hamiltonian we introduce a modified Jaynes–Cummings model to represent the interaction between a two-level atom and two electromagnetic fields injected simultaneously within a perfect cavity. The field–field interaction is assumed to be in the frequency converter form. Exact expressions of the dynamical operators is given by solving the equations of the motion in the Heisenberg picture. The entropy squeezing is examined in the framework of Shannon information entropy. Using the entropic uncertainty relation, one can be able to show that there is a new kind of quantum squeezing in the entropy.

Single-Mode Cavity-QED of a Raman Interaction

N. Nayak, Saad S. M. Hassan, Biswas, T.

We consider a single Rydberg atom having two degenerate levels interacting with the radiation field in a single-mode ideal cavity. The transition between the levels is carried out by a $Λ$-type degenerate two-photon process via a third level far away from single-photon resonance. At the start of interaction, the atom is considered to be in a coherent superposition of its two levels and the field in a coherent state. We study the dynamics of the atomic as well as the field states. The squeezing in the quadratures of atomic states can reach up to $100\%$. The cavity field evolves to a statistical mixture of two coherent fields with the phase difference between them decided by the interaction time. Analysis of entropies of the atom and the field shows that the two systems are dis-entangled periodically in certain cases.

ENTANGLEMENT OF A SINGLE-MODE CAVITY QED OF A RAMAN INTERACTION

Mahmoud Abdel‐Aty, Faisal Al-Showaikh, Saad S. M. Hassan

We investigate the entanglement of a degenerate Raman process involving two degenerate Rydberg energy levels of an atom interacting with a single-mode cavity field. We use the concurrence as an entanglement measure and show that long living entanglement can be obtained for certain choices of the system parameters.

Statistical properties of a Raman three-level atom interacting with a cavity field

We investigate the linear entropy of a degenerate Raman process involving two degenerate Rydberg energy levels of an atom interacting with a cavity field. It is shown that a long living entanglement can be obtained for particular initial state settings. We demonstrate how these states can be observed experimentally and study the feasibility of the implementation with present day technology.

Information Entropy and Squeezing of Quantum Fluctuations in a Two-Level Atom

Mao-Fa Fang, Peng Zhou, S. Swain

We study the atomic squeezing in the language of the quantum information theory. A rigorous entropy uncertainty relation which suits for characterizing the squeezing of a two-level atoms is obtained, and a general definition of information entropy squeezing in the two-level atoms is given. The information entropy squeezing of two-level atoms interacting with a single-mode quantum field is examined. Our results show that the information entropy is a superior measure of the quantum uncertainty of atomic observable, also is a remarkable good precision measure of atomic squeezing. When the population difference of two-level atom is zero, the definition of atomic squeezing based on the Heisenberg uncertainty relation is trivial, while the definition of information entropy squeezing of the atom based on the entropy uncertainty relation is valid and can provide full information on the atomic squeezing in any cases.

Entropy squeezing for three-level atom interacting with a single-mode field*

Feifan Liu, Mao-Fa Fang, Xiong Xu

The entropy squeezing for a three-level atom interacting with a single-model field is studied. A general definition of entropy squeezing for three-level atom is given according to entropic uncertainty relation of three-level system, and the calculation formalism of entropy is derived for a cascade three-level atom. By using numerical calculation, the entropy squeezing properties of a cascade three-level atom are examined. Our results show that, three-level atom can generate obvious entropy squeezing effect via choosing appropriate superposition state of three-level atom. Our results are meaningful for preparing three-level system information resources with ultra-low quantum noise.
