Abstract

The entropy squeezing for a three-level atom interacting with a single-model field is studied. A general definition of entropy squeezing for three-level atom is given according to entropic uncertainty relation of three-level system, and the calculation formalism of entropy is derived for a cascade three-level atom. By using numerical calculation, the entropy squeezing properties of a cascade three-level atom are examined. Our results show that, three-level atom can generate obvious entropy squeezing effect via choosing appropriate superposition state of three-level atom. Our results are meaningful for preparing three-level system information resources with ultra-low quantum noise.

Entropy squeezing for a V-type three-level atom interacting with a single-mode field and passing through the amplitude damping channel with weak measurement*

Cui-Yu Zhang, Mao-Fa Fang

The entropy squeezing of a V-type three-level atom interacting with a single-mode field and passing through the amplitude damping channel is investigated in detail. Our results show that when coupled to the single-mode field, the atom in appropriate initial states can not only generate obvious entropy squeezing but also keep in the optimal squeezing state, while passing through the amplitude damping channel, the atom can generate entropy squeezing under the control of the weak measurement. Besides, it is proved again that as a measurement method for atomic squeezing, the entropy squeezing is precise and effective. Therefore our work is instructive for experiments in preparing three-level system information resource with ultra-low quantum noise.

Steady and optimal entropy squeezing for three types of moving three-level atoms coupled with a single-mode coherent field*

Wen-Jin Huang, Mao-Fa Fang

The entropy squeezing properties of different types of moving three-level atoms coupled with a single-mode coherent field are studied. The influences of the moving velocity and initial states of the three-level atom on the entropy squeezing are discussed. The results show that, the entropy squeezing properties of the three-level atom depend on its initial state, moving velocity, and the type. A stationary three-level atom can not obtain a steady entropy squeezing whatever initial conditions are chosen, while a moving three-level atom can achieve a steady and optimal entropy squeezing through choosing higher velocity and appropriate initial state. Our result provides a simple method for preparing squeezing resources with ultra-low quantum noise of the three-level atomic system without additional any complex techniques.

Entropic squeezing properties of the field in the system of the cascade three-level atom interacting with superposition states field

LU Dao-ming

The entropic squeezing properties of the field in the system of the cascade three-level atom interacting with superposition states field are studied. When the field is superposition state of |0〉 and |1〉,the results obtained using the numerical method indicate that the entropic squeezing properties of the field is closely related to the superposition coefficient φ and is influenced by the superposition coefficient. When φ is larger than 0 and smaller than π/2,with the increasing of the value of φ,the entropic squeezing properties of the field is getting stronger.

Information Entropy and Squeezing of Quantum Fluctuations in a Two-Level Atom

Mao-Fa Fang, Peng Zhou, S. Swain

We study the atomic squeezing in the language of the quantum information theory. A rigorous entropy uncertainty relation which suits for characterizing the squeezing of a two-level atoms is obtained, and a general definition of information entropy squeezing in the two-level atoms is given. The information entropy squeezing of two-level atoms interacting with a single-mode quantum field is examined. Our results show that the information entropy is a superior measure of the quantum uncertainty of atomic observable, also is a remarkable good precision measure of atomic squeezing. When the population difference of two-level atom is zero, the definition of atomic squeezing based on the Heisenberg uncertainty relation is trivial, while the definition of information entropy squeezing of the atom based on the entropy uncertainty relation is valid and can provide full information on the atomic squeezing in any cases.

Entropy Squeezing of the Binomial State Field Interacting with a Cascade Three-level Atom

Yao Hu

Entropy squeezing effect of the binomial state field interacting with a cascade three-level at- om are studied by using quantum entropy theory effect and calculation method, and the influences of initial field parameters on the entropy squeezing effect of the field are discussed. The results are that, firstly, when the field is initially in a coherent state, entropy squeezing effect can be exhibited in a short time;secondly, when the initial field is in a middle state between the coherent state and number state, the depth and sustained time of the field's squeezing effect increase;finally, when the initial field transmit to a lock state, the field's squeezing effect weakens and disappears in the end.The re- sults show that binomial state field displays obviously entropy squeezing effect when it interacts with a cascade three-level atom.

Entropy squeezing of the field interacting with a nearly degenerate V-type three-level atom

Qingchun Zhou, Zhu Shi-Ning

The position- and momentum-entopic squeezing properties of the optical field in the system of a nearly degenerate three-level atom interacting with a single-mode field are investigated. Calculation results indicate that when the field is initially in the vacuum state, it may lead to squeezing of the position entropy or the momentum entropy of the field if the atom is prepared properly. The effects of initial atomic state and the splitting of the excited levels of the atom on field entropies are discussed in this case. When the initial field is in a coherent state, we find that position-entropy squeezing of the field is present even if the atom is prepared in the ground state. By comparing the variance squeezing and entropy squeezing of the field we confirm that entropy is more sensitive than variance in measuring quantum fluctuations.
