Visual method of identification of the resonant transition

Ildus S. Bikbov, Ivan I. Popov, Anatolii N. Leukhin

Visual method of identification of the branch type of resonant transition is suggested in this paper. The method is basedon the measurement ofratio ofprimary photon echo amplitude to stimulated photon echo amplitude in the magnetic field, when the effect of non-Faraday rotation of the photon echo polarization vector is occurred. The experimental results ofidentification of the resonant transitions in the vapor of molecular iodine are demonstrated. The results were checked bythe measurement ofthe maximum rotation angle range ofprimary photon polarization vector. This parameter is similarlycharacterized the resonam transition. For the first time fact ofregistration ofthe non-Faraday rotation polarization vectorofstimulated echo, formed on the different resonant transitions (Q-branch or P(R)-hranch), is reported. Keywords: primary photon echo, stimulated photon echo, identification of the resonant transitions, non-Faraday rotationof the photon echo polarization, vapors of molecular iodine, magnetic field, Q -

Photon echo as a method of a spectroscopy of molecular iodine vapors in cooling supersonic molecular jets

Ivan I. Popov, Самарцев Виталий Владимирович

The article is devoted to photon echo detection in molecular iodine vapors cooled under supersonic jets. This phenomena could be used in spectroscopic diagnosis of the jets. The methodic, results and the possibilities of their practical application in the development of the optical echo-processors are discussed.

Possibilities of photon echo technique in sensing of atmosphere

Tatiana G. Mitrofanova, Ivan I. Popov, Самарцев Виталий Владимирович

Possibilities of photon echo technique in sensing of atmosphere are explored. As example the vapor of molecular iodine is considered as the promising resonant medium for the photon echo lidar (PE-lidar). The two schemes of PE-lidar are discussed and the ways of their optimal use for the atmosphere sensing are analyzed.

Femtosecond photon echo as probe for ultrafast optical dephasing and optical band shape in condensed molecular systems

Игорь Сергеевич Осадько, M. V. Stashek

Femtosecond photon echo decay due to ultrafast optical dephasing in condensed molecular systems can be related to an impurity optical band shape. A relation is found and discussed.© (1996) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering. Downloading of the abstract is permitted for personal use only.

Coherently-controlled two-dimensional photon echo electronic spectroscopy

Valentyn I. Prokhorenko, Alexei Halpin, R. J. Dwayne Miller

Optical two-dimensional photon-echo spectroscopy is realized with shaped excitation pulses, allowing coherent control of twodimensional spectra. This development enables probing of state-selective quantum decoherence and phase/time sensitive couplings between states. The coherently-controlled two-dimensional photon-echo spectrometer with two pulse shapers is based on a passively stabilized four-beam interferometer with diffractive optic, and allows heterodyne detection of signals with a long-term phase stability of approximately Lambda/100. The two-dimensional spectra of Rhodamine 101 in a methanol solution, measured with unshaped and shaped pulses, exhibit significant differences. We observe in particular, the appearance of fine structure in the spectra obtained using shaped excitation pulses.
