Abstract

Principles of the laser cooling detection by means of photon echo technicians are considered in this paper. The experiment allowing register a degree of short-pulse laser cooling is described in this paper. By means of coherent part of radiating it is realized registration of mode cooling.

Ivan I. Popov, Самарцев Виталий Владимирович

The article is devoted to photon echo detection in molecular iodine vapors cooled under supersonic jets. This phenomena could be used in spectroscopic diagnosis of the jets. The methodic, results and the possibilities of their practical application in the development of the optical echo-processors are discussed.

Registration of the photon echo signals in the photon counting mode

Каримуллин Камиль Равкатович

The method of registration of weak light pulses in a mode of the photon counting is discussed. The principle of photon counting, its key points and operating circuit configuration, as well as characteristics of photomultiplier tubes and basic characteristics of the photon counting is explained. Possibilities of photon echo technique in sensing of atmosphere

Tatiana G. Mitrofanova, Ivan I. Popov, Самарцев Виталий Владимирович

Possibilities of photon echo technique in sensing of atmosphere are explored. As example the vapor of molecular iodine is considered as the promising resonant medium for the photon echo lidar (PE-lidar). The two schemes of PE-lidar are discussed and the ways of their optimal use for the atmosphere sensing are analyzed.

Laser Cooling of Solids

S. V. Petrushkin, В. В. Самарцев

Laser cooling is an important emerging technology in such areas as the cooling of semiconductors. The book examines and suggests solutions for a range of problems in the development of miniature solid-state laser refrigerators, self-cooling solid-state lasers and optical echo-processors. It begins by looking at the basic theory of laser cooling before considering such topics as self-cooling of active elements of solid-state lasers, laser cooling of solid-state information media of optical echo-processors, and problems of cooling solid-state quantum processors. Laser Cooling of Solids is an important contribution to the development of compact laser-powered cryogenic refrigerators, both for the academic community and those in the microelectronics and other industries. Provides a timely review of this promising field of research and discusses the fundamentals and theory of laser cooling Particular attention is given to the physics of cooling processes and the mathematical description of these processes Reviews previous experimental investigations in laser cooling and presents progress towards key potential applications.
