A vertex model with an unbounded number of components

Abstract

A model which is an infinite-component generalization of the six-vertex model is proposed. The method of solution is based on a random walk representation of states. The Bethe ansatz equations for periodic boundary conditions are obtained. The partition function of the finite model with special arrow configurations at the boundary of a square is given. In contrast to analogous solutions of Korepin (1982) and Baxter (1982) it has the form of an evaluable determinant.

Perimeter Bethe ansatz

R. J. Baxter

The partition function of a finite Z-invariant six-vertex lattice model (with a prescribed arrow configuration at the boundary) is given. The expression is of the same type that occurs in the Bethe ansatz, but there are no 'wavenumber' equations to solve.

An introduction to the algebraic Bethe ansatz

James Plunkett, Omar E. Foda

The algebraic Bethe ansatz is one of the main approaches to solving integrable models in statistical mechanics. This thesis is a detailed introduction to aspects of this technique. In chapter 1, following Takhtajan1, we fully explain all preliminaries that are required by this technique in the context of the 8-vertex model, including the solution of the Yang-Baxter equations in terms of Boltzmann weights that are parameterized by elliptic function. In chapter 2, also following Takhtajan, we restrict our attention to the special case of the 6-vertex model, with Boltzmann weights parameterized by hyperbolic trigonometric functions, formulate the model in detail on a finite lattice with periodic boundary conditions, and show how the algebraic Bethe ansatz can be used to characterize the eigenvectors and eigenvalues, in the homogeneous case (all vertical rapidities are equal, and all horizontal rapidities are also equal). In chapter 3, following Bogoliubov et al2, we consider the 6-vertex model in inhomogeneous case (all rapidities are now independenti variables) but with domain wall boundary conditions. Using the algebraic Bethe ansatz, and Izergin’s result for the partition function, we calculate boundary 1-point functions of the six-vertex model on a finite lattice and represent them in determinant form. Properties of eigenstates of the six-vertex model with twisted and open boundary conditions

Heng Fan, Bo-Yu Hou, Kangjie Shi

We use the method proposed by Izergin and Korepin to discuss the Bethe ansatz equations of the six-vertex model with twisted and open boundary conditions. Let two parameters of the Bethe wave functions be equal, then an additional Bethe ansatz equation arises. For the open boundary condition case, we also have discussed the dual pseudovacuum state and have written out the simplest scalar products of the Bethe wave function.

On the Six-Vertex Model’s Free Energy

Hugo Duminil‐Copin, Karol Kajetan Kozlowski, Dmitry Krachun +2 more

Abstract In this paper, we provide new proofs of the existence and the condensation of Bethe roots for the Bethe Ansatz equation associated with the six-vertex model with periodic boundary conditions and an arbitrary density of up arrows (per line) in the regime $$\Delta <1$$ Δ<1 . As an application, we provide a short, fully rigorous computation of the free energy of the six-vertex model on the torus, as well as an asymptotic expansion of the six-vertex partition functions when the density of up arrows approaches 1/2. This latter result is at the base of a number of recent results, in particular the rigorous proof of continuity/discontinuity of the phase transition of the random-cluster model, the localization/delocalization behaviour of the six-vertex height function when $$a=b=1$$ a=b=1 and $$c\ge 1$$ c≥1 , and the rotational invariance of the six-vertex model and the Fortuin–Kasteleyn percolation.

The matrix product ansatz for the six-vertex model

Matheus J. Lazo

Recently it was shown that the eigenfunctions for the the asymmetric exclusion problem and several of its generalizations as well as a huge family of quantum chains, like the anisotropic Heisenberg model, Fateev- Zamolodchikov model, Izergin-Korepin model, Sutherland model, t-J model, Hubbard model, etc, can be expressed by a matrix product ansatz. Differently from the coordinate Bethe ansatz, where the eigenvalues and eigenvectors are plane wave combinations, in this ansatz the components of the eigenfunctions are obtained through the algebraic properties of properly defined matrices. In this work, we introduce a formulation of a matrix product ansatz for the six-vertex model with periodic boundary condition, which is the paradigmatic example of integrability in two dimensions. Remarkably, our studies of the six-vertex model are in agreement with the conjecture that all models exactly solved by the Bethe ansatz can also be solved by an appropriated matrix product ansatz.

Inhomogeneous six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions and Bethe ansatz

V. E. Korepin, Paul Zinn-Justin

In this note, we consider the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions, defined on an M×M lattice, in the inhomogeneous case where the partition function depends on 2M inhomogeneities λj and μk. For a particular choice of the set of λj we find a new determinant representation for the partition function, which allows evaluation of the bulk free energy in the thermodynamic limit. This provides a new connection between two types of determinant formulas. We also show in a special case that spin correlations on the horizontal line going through the center coincide with the ones for periodic boundary conditions.
