Inhomogeneous six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions and Bethe ansatz

Abstract

In this note, we consider the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions, defined on an M×M lattice, in the inhomogeneous case where the partition function depends on 2M inhomogeneities λj and μk. For a particular choice of the set of λj we find a new determinant representation for the partition function, which allows evaluation of the bulk free energy in the thermodynamic limit. This provides a new connection between two types of determinant formulas. We also show in a special case that spin correlations on the horizontal line going through the center coincide with the ones for periodic boundary conditions.

Six-Vertex Model with Domain wall boundary conditions. Variable Inhomogeneities

Jan de Gier, V. E. Korepin

We consider the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions. We choose the inhomogeneities as solutions of the Bethe Ansatz equations. The Bethe Ansatz equations have many solutions, so we can consider a wide variety of inhomogeneities. For certain choices of the inhomogeneities we study arrow correlation functions on the horizontal line going through the centre. In particular we obtain a multiple integral representation for the emptiness formation probability that generalizes the known formulæ for XXZ antiferromagnets. 1

On the partition function of the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions

Filippo Colomo, A. G. Pronko

The six-vertex model on an N × N square lattice with domain wall boundary conditions is considered. A Fredholm determinant representation for the partition function of the model is given. The kernel of the corresponding integral operator is of the so-called integrable type, and involves classical orthogonal polynomials. From this representation, a ‘reconstruction’ formula is proposed, which expresses the partition function as the trace of a suitably chosen quantum operator, in the spirit of corner transfer matrix and vertex operator approaches to integrable spin models.

An introduction to the algebraic Bethe ansatz

James Plunkett, Omar E. Foda

The algebraic Bethe ansatz is one of the main approaches to solving integrable models in statistical mechanics. This thesis is a detailed introduction to aspects of this technique. In chapter 1, following Takhtajan1, we fully explain all preliminaries that are required by this technique in the context of the 8-vertex model, including the solution of the Yang-Baxter equations in terms of Boltzmann weights that are parameterized by elliptic function. In chapter 2, also following Takhtajan, we restrict our attention to the special case of the 6-vertex model, with Boltzmann weights parameterized by hyperbolic trigonometric functions, formulate the model in detail on a finite lattice with periodic boundary conditions, and show how the algebraic Bethe ansatz can be used to characterize the eigenvectors and eigenvalues, in the homogeneous case (all vertical rapidities are equal, and all horizontal rapidities are also equal). In chapter 3, following Bogoliubov et al2, we consider the 6-vertex model in inhomogeneous case (all rapidities are now independenti variables) but with domain wall boundary conditions. Using the algebraic Bethe ansatz, and Izergin’s result for the partition function, we calculate boundary 1-point functions of the six-vertex model on a finite lattice and represent them in determinant form. Determinant formula for the six-vertex model

Anatoli G. Izergin, D A Coker, V. E. Korepin

The partition function of a six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions is considered on the finite lattice. The authors show that the partition function satisfies a recursive relation. They solve the recursion relation by a determinant formula. This gives a determinant representation for the partition function. They use the Quantum Inverse Scattering Method (QISM).

Functional relations for the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions

W. Galléas

In this work we demonstrate that the Yang–Baxter algebra can also be employed in order to derive a functional relation for the partition function of the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions. The homogeneous limit is studied for small lattices and the properties determining the partition function are also discussed.
