Properties of eigenstates of the six-vertex model with twisted and open boundary conditions

Abstract

We use the method proposed by Izergin and Korepin to discuss the Bethe ansatz equations of the six-vertex model with twisted and open boundary conditions. Let two parameters of the Bethe wave functions be equal, then an additional Bethe ansatz equation arises. For the open boundary condition case, we also have discussed the dual pseudovacuum state and have written out the simplest scalar products of the Bethe wave function.

The matrix product ansatz for the six-vertex model

Matheus J. Lazo

Recently it was shown that the eigenfunctions for the the asymmetric exclusion problem and several of its generalizations as well as a huge family of quantum chains, like the anisotropic Heisenberg model, Fateev- Zamolodchikov model, Izergin-Korepin model, Sutherland model, t-J model, Hubbard model, etc, can be expressed by a matrix product ansatz. Differently from the coordinate Bethe ansatz, where the eigenvalues and eigenvectors are plane wave combinations, in this ansatz the components of the eigenfunctions are obtained through the algebraic properties of properly defined matrices. In this work, we introduce a formulation of a matrix product ansatz for the six-vertex model with periodic boundary condition, which is the paradigmatic example of integrability in two dimensions. Remarkably, our studies of the six-vertex model are in agreement with the conjecture that all models exactly solved by the Bethe ansatz can also be solved by an appropriated matrix product ansatz.

The Influence of Boundary Conditions in the Six-Vertex Model

Paul Zinn-Justin

We discuss the influence of boundary conditions on the continuum limit of the six-vertex model by deriving a variational principle for the associated height function with arbitrary fixed boundary conditions. We discuss its consequences using the known phase diagram of the six-vertex model. In some particular cases we compute explicitly the corresponding partial differential equations by means of the Bethe Ansatz.

An introduction to the algebraic Bethe ansatz

James Plunkett, Omar E. Foda

The algebraic Bethe ansatz is one of the main approaches to solving integrable models in statistical mechanics. This thesis is a detailed introduction to aspects of this technique. In chapter 1, following Takhtajan1, we fully explain all preliminaries that are required by this technique in the context of the 8-vertex model, including the solution of the Yang-Baxter equations in terms of Boltzmann weights that are parameterized by elliptic function. In chapter 2, also following Takhtajan, we restrict our attention to the special case of the 6-vertex model, with Boltzmann weights parameterized by hyperbolic trigonometric functions, formulate the model in detail on a finite lattice with periodic boundary conditions, and show how the algebraic Bethe ansatz can be used to characterize the eigenvectors and eigenvalues, in the homogeneous case (all vertical rapidities are equal, and all horizontal rapidities are also equal). In chapter 3, following Bogoliubov et al2, we consider the 6-vertex model in inhomogeneous case (all rapidities are now independenti variables) but with domain wall boundary conditions. Using the algebraic Bethe ansatz, and Izergin’s result for the partition function, we calculate boundary 1-point functions of the six-vertex model on a finite lattice and represent them in determinant form. Differential approach to on-shell scalar products in six-vertex models

W. Galléas, Jules Lamers

In this work we obtain hierarchies of partial differential equations describing on-shell scalar products for two types of six-vertex models. More precisely, six-vertex models with two different diagonal boundary conditions are considered: the case with boundary twists and the case with open boundary conditions. Solutions and properties of our partial differential equations are also discussed.

Bethe ansätze for 19-vertex models

A. Lima-Santos

The 19-vertex models of Zalomodchikov-Fateev, Izergin-Korepin and the supersymmetric with periodic boundary conditions are studied. We find the spectrum of these quantum spin chains using the coordinate Bethe ansatz. The approach is a suitable parametrization of their wavefunctions. We also applied the algebraic Bethe ansatz in order to obtain the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the corresponding transfer matrices.

The eight-vertex model with quasi-periodic boundary conditions

Giuliano Niccoli, V. Terras

Abstract We study the inhomogeneous eight-vertex model (or equivalently the XYZ Heisenberg spin-1/2 chain) with all kinds of integrable quasi-periodic boundary conditions: periodic, -twisted, -twisted or -twisted. We show that in all these cases but the periodic one with an even number of sites , the transfer matrix of the model is related, by the vertex-IRF transformation, to the transfer matrix of the dynamical six-vertex model with antiperiodic boundary conditions, which we have recently solved by means of Sklyanin’s separation of variables approach. We show moreover that, in all the twisted cases, the vertex-IRF transformation is bijective. This allows us to completely characterize, from our previous results on the antiperiodic dynamical six-vertex model, the twisted eight-vertex transfer matrix spectrum (proving that it is simple) and eigenstates. We also consider the periodic case for odd. In this case we can define two independent vertex-IRF transformations, both not bijective, and by using them we show that the eight-vertex transfer matrix spectrum is doubly degenerate, and that it can, as well as the corresponding eigenstates, also be completely characterized in terms of the spectrum and eigenstates of the dynamical six-vertex antiperiodic transfer matrix. In all these cases we can adapt to the eight-vertex case the reformulations of the dynamical six-vertex transfer matrix spectrum and eigenstates that had been obtained by T – Q functional equations, where the Q -functions are elliptic polynomials with twist-dependent quasi-periods. Such reformulations enable one to characterize the eight-vertex transfer matrix spectrum by the solutions of some Bethe-type equations, and to rewrite the corresponding eigenstates as the multiple action of some operators on a pseudo-vacuum state, in a similar way as in the algebraic Bethe ansatz framework.
