Abstract

We have analyzed the entanglement of a system of two coupled charge qubits. We calculate the amount of entanglement using several different approaches. We show that in the ideal case the system remains entangled most of the time and the amount of entanglement reaches almost unity, i.e. the system becomes maximally entangled at certain instances.

Entanglement Capability of Two-qubit Operations

Barbara Kraus, Wolfgang Dür, Guifré Vidal +4 more

Abstract We study the optimal way of creating bi-partite entanglement using a general two-qubit in teraction. On the one hand, we analyze the entanglement capability of an arbitrary non-local Hamiltonian acting on two qubits. We explicitly calculate the state which maximizes the entangle ment produced per time step 81 during the non-local evolution. On the other hand, we determine the maximal amount of entanglement which can be produced by an arbitrary two-qubit gate. We also give the separable state which leads to the output state containing this amount of entanglement. Furthermore, we consider the situation where auxiliary systems are present. Finally, we determine the non-unitary processes which are able to create entanglement from an initially separable state of two systems.

ENTANGLEMENT BETWEEN TWO SUPERCONDUCTING CHARGE QUBITS

Eugene K. Bashkirov

In this paper, we investigated the dynamics of entanglement of two identical charge qubits with Josephson junctions in the case when one of the qubits is exposed to a microwave field in a coherent or thermal state. We have found the exact solution of the quantum time equation of evolution of the system under consideration for the statistical operator in the case of initial separable and entangled states of qubits. The exact solution for the complete statistical operator is used to calculate the qubit entanglement criterion - concurrence. The results of numerical simulation of the time dependence of the concurrence in the case of the coherent field showed that, with a certain choice of model parameters, the system can realize long-lived entangled states. It is also shown that for the thermal state of the field and the entangled initial state of qubits, the qubits retain a certain degree of entanglement during evolution even in the case of very intensive fields. In this case, for any intensities of thermal noise, there is no effect of the sudden death of entanglement.

Entanglement of General Two-Qubit States in a Realistic Framework

S. Abdel‐Khalek, K. Berrada, Eied Mahmoud Khalil +1 more

In the present paper, we examine the quantum entanglement for more general states of two-qubit system in the context of spin coherent states (SCSs). We consider the concurrence as a quantifier of entanglement and express it in terms of SCSs. We determine new set of maximally entangled conditions that provide the maximal amount of entanglement for certain values of the amplitudes of SCSs for the case of pure states. Finally, we examine the entanglement of a class of mixed states of the two qubits and provide the range in which the entanglement value is maximal with respect to the values of the amplitudes of SCSs.

Quantum coherent dynamics of two coupled superconducting charge qubits

Yu. A. Pashkin, O. V. Astafiev, Tsuyoshi Yamamoto +5 more

We have analyzed and measured the quantum coherent dynamics of a circuit containing two coupled superconducting charge qubits. Each qubit is based on a Cooper pair box connected to a reservoir electrode through a Josephson junction. Two qubits are coupled electrostatically by a small island overlapping both Cooper pair boxes. Quantum state manipulation ofthe qubit circuit is done by applying non-adiabatic voltage pulses to the common gate. We read out each qubit by means of probe electrodes connected to Cooper pair boxes through high-Ohmic tunnel junctions. With such a setup the measured pulse-induced probe currents are proportional to the probability for each qubit to have an extra Cooper pai1r after the manipulation. As expected from theory and observed experimentally the measured pulse-induced current in each probe has two frequency components whose position on the frequency axis can be externally controlled. This is a result ofthe inter-qubit coupling which is also responsible for the avoided level crossing that we observed in the qubits' spectra. Our simulations show that in the absence of decoherence and with a rectangular pulse shape the system remains entangled most ofthe time reaching maximally entangled states at certain instances.

Pairwise Concurrence Dynamics in a Five Qubit Model

Seyed Arash Ghoreishi

In this paper, we study the entanglement in a five qubit model. For this purpose, we consider two non-interacting systems A and B which are correlated together initially. A is a t wo atoms Tavis-Cu mmings system and B is a Jaynes-Cummings System. By choosing a convenient initial condition which shows the initially correlation, our total system (A plus B) become a system which consist of five qubits. There are ten pairwise concurrences which we must calculate. We show that initially non-entangled qubits become entangled by passing time, the process which may be interpreted as entanglement transfer. We also show that our model in special cases become two-qubit and three-qubit models and analyze entanglement in these special cases.
