Effects of quantum interference on Mossbauer gamma transitions

Abstract

In recent years there became actual studies of quantum interference on gamma spectroscopic transitions induced by coherent perturbations.A special attention is paid to gamma transitions in compound systems. In this work it is shown that quantum interference effects (QIE) occur in gamma quantum spontaneous emission spectrum of an electron-nuclear paramagnetic system when electron spin resonance is induced. Occurrence of QIE is connected to preparation of the quantum system initial state. The role of electron relaxation is defined: increase of relaxation rate leads to extinguishing of QIE. The cases of stationary excitation of Mossbauer levels by wide and narrow spectra are considered.

Quantum interference of Mössbauer gamma-radiative transitions in magnetic materials

É. K. Sadykov, L. L. Zakirov, Юричук Александр Александрович +1 more

A method is developed for calculating the resonance fluorescence spectrum of coherent radiation with a finite linewidth from a system whose energy levels are coupled through a strong field. In this case, the shape of the spectrum is essentially affected by quantum interference. The results obtained give impetus to investigations into quantum interference of Mössbauer gamma-radiative transitions in magnetic materials under conditions of induced coherent magnetization dynamics.

Transparency of a thin absorber in Mössbauer optics with allowance for electron relaxation

É. K. Sadykov, Аринин Виталий Валерьевич, Farit G. Vagizov +1 more

A model of Mössbauer absorption in the nuclear level anticrossing regime with allowance for electron relaxation has been proposed. The role of quantum interference in the creation of particular transparency on Mössbauer transitions under these conditions has been determined and the dependence of this characteristic on the relaxation and mixing parameters has been obtained using the stochastic theory of Mössbauer relaxation spectra.

Resonance fluorescence of gamma radiation under conditions of coherent mixing of Mössbauer sublevels

É. K. Sadykov, Юричук Александр Александрович, Аринин Виталий Валерьевич

A method is proposed for calculating the resonance fluorescence spectrum of coherent gamma radiation with a finite linewidth under conditions when the sublevels of the ground nuclear state are coupled through a strong field. The spectrum line shape is substantially affected by both the coherent effects induced in the system by a strong field and the finite gamma-radiation width. The results obtained earlier and in this work give impetus to experimental investigations into the coherence of a quantum system and quantum interference of Mössbauer gamma transitions through the excitation of coherent magnetization dynamics or an optical subsystem in solids.

Quantum interference in Mössbauer scattering spectra

É. K. Sadykov, Аринин Виталий Валерьевич, Farit G. Vagizov

The role of quantum interference in the formation of the resonance scattering spectra of Mössbauer photons is studied. A resonant rf field mixing the spin levels of the excited state of a nucleus is considered to be the mechanism ensuring the conditions for quantum interference. A considerable intensity redistribution of the elastic and Raman scattering channels is shown to occur as a result of quantum interference.

Controllable quantum interference in Mössbauer spectroscopy: “valve” effect

É. K. Sadykov, Аринин Виталий Валерьевич, Farit G. Vagizov +1 more

A possibility of redistribution of line intensities in the spectrum of resonant Mössbauer scattering due to the RF-stimulated quantum interference of the spectroscopic amplitudes is shown. The three-level Σ scheme in the second order of the perturbation theory with respect to the interaction of γ radiation with nucleus is considered exactly taking into account the resonant RF field. The calculations suggest the use of the 57 Fe isotope in magnetic materials in experiments.

Impact of quantum interference in cascade radiation on the absorption profile

Dmitry A. Solovyev, A. Anikin, Timur A. Zalialiutdinov +1 more

Spectroscopic measurements of transition frequencies in various atomic systems are a significant part of modern physics. They enable the testing of fundamental interactions, the determination of physical constants, and the study of fundamental symmetries that occur in nature with unprecedented accuracy. Studies based on two-photon spectroscopy of simple atoms represent some of the most accurate experiments to date. The verification of precision experimental results is largely supported by theoretical analysis, which is most rigorous for light, nonrelativistic atoms and ions. In the last decade, much attention in the literature has been paid to the study of the quantum interference effect (QIE) in hydrogen and hydrogenlike atomic systems. This has made it possible to significantly reduce the experimental error in determining the appropriate transition frequency. The theoretical description of the QIE corresponds to the consideration of similar pathways arising for close-lying resonant states into which the transition frequency is measured. In the present work, the influence of the emission process on the absorption profile formation is investigated. The results of the studies carried out in this work show the need to take into account the effect of quantum interference in cascade radiation for the precise determination of the absorption transition frequency to highly excited states in two-photon spectroscopic experiments.
