Abstract

A model of Mössbauer absorption in the nuclear level anticrossing regime with allowance for electron relaxation has been proposed. The role of quantum interference in the creation of particular transparency on Mössbauer transitions under these conditions has been determined and the dependence of this characteristic on the relaxation and mixing parameters has been obtained using the stochastic theory of Mössbauer relaxation spectra.

A model of Moessbauer absorption taking into account the effects of the electron relaxation and the nuclear levels anticrossing simultaneously has been proposed. The dependence of the absorption deficit (transparency) on the relaxation and mixing parameters has been obtained using the stochastic theory of Moessbauer relaxation spectra. The role of quantum interference in occurrence of a partial transparency on Moessbauer transitions has been explored under these conditions.

The mechanism of Mössbauer absorber transparency under nuclear level anticrossing conditions

É. K. Sadykov, Farit G. Vagizov, Аринин Виталий Валерьевич +2 more

Possible mechanisms for the partial transparency of a thin Mössbauer absorber under nuclear level anticrossing conditions were studied. The conditions leading to the most interesting transparency mechanism due to quantum interference were determined. The siderite (FeCO 3 ) in which this effect was experimentally observed was considered.

Suppression ofγ-photon absorption via quantum interference

We show that the interference effects (similar to electromagnetically induced transparency, which was widely studied earlier in electronic transitions in optics) may appear in γ-radiation at nuclear transitions under the condition of nuclear level anticrossing. We demonstrate it also experimentally in optically thin samples of FeCO3.

Nuclear level mixing-induced interference in FeCO3

S. Gheysen, J. Odeurs

We present a detailed description and a consistent explanation of the transparency observed in the Mössbauer absorption spectra at a nuclear level mixing in FeCO3. We develop a model for scattering in this nuclear Λ system in a Maxwell–Schrödinger approach, taking into account multiple scattering and polarization effects. It is shown that the level mixing scheme not only yields an expected Stark splitting, but, due to the unequal relaxation rates and transition strengths, an additional interference term is present. Therefore, this scheme is equivalent to the Λ scheme considered for EIT in quantum optics. The interference in the absorption of the gamma radiation can be destructive, leading to a partial transparency, but can also be constructive. Both types of interference are present in the observed spectra.

Effects of quantum interference on Mossbauer gamma transitions

É. K. Sadykov, L. L. Zakirov, Юричук Александр Александрович

In recent years there became actual studies of quantum interference on gamma spectroscopic transitions induced by coherent perturbations.A special attention is paid to gamma transitions in compound systems. In this work it is shown that quantum interference effects (QIE) occur in gamma quantum spontaneous emission spectrum of an electron-nuclear paramagnetic system when electron spin resonance is induced. Occurrence of QIE is connected to preparation of the quantum system initial state. The role of electron relaxation is defined: increase of relaxation rate leads to extinguishing of QIE. The cases of stationary excitation of Mossbauer levels by wide and narrow spectra are considered.

Controlled quantum interference of Mössbauer radiation in resonant scattering

É. K. Sadykov, Юричук Александр Александрович, Farit G. Vagizov +1 more

Previously, our group described a quantum-interference effect (“valve effect”) to be expected in the resonant scattering of Mössbauer photons in the NMR mode. In the present study, it is shown that similar effects also occur in resonant-scattering spectra at the point of anticrossing of nuclear sublevels. Dynamical level anticrossing is also examined in this context.
