Abstract

A method is developed for calculating the resonance fluorescence spectrum of coherent radiation with a finite linewidth from a system whose energy levels are coupled through a strong field. In this case, the shape of the spectrum is essentially affected by quantum interference. The results obtained give impetus to investigations into quantum interference of Mössbauer gamma-radiative transitions in magnetic materials under conditions of induced coherent magnetization dynamics.

Resonance fluorescence of gamma radiation under conditions of coherent mixing of Mössbauer sublevels

É. K. Sadykov, Юричук Александр Александрович, Аринин Виталий Валерьевич

A method is proposed for calculating the resonance fluorescence spectrum of coherent gamma radiation with a finite linewidth under conditions when the sublevels of the ground nuclear state are coupled through a strong field. The spectrum line shape is substantially affected by both the coherent effects induced in the system by a strong field and the finite gamma-radiation width. The results obtained earlier and in this work give impetus to experimental investigations into the coherence of a quantum system and quantum interference of Mössbauer gamma transitions through the excitation of coherent magnetization dynamics or an optical subsystem in solids.

Radiofrequency stimulated quantum interference on Mössbauer transitions

É. K. Sadykov, Аринин Виталий Валерьевич, Farit G. Vagizov +1 more

Redistribution of the elastic and Raman channel intensities in the Mössbauer resonant scattering spectrum can be controlled by the radio frequency (rf) stimulated quantum interference of gamma-transition amplitudes. More general expressions for each channel intensity are written out exactly taking into account the influence of the rf field. Results of calculations for the simple three-level scheme can be easily generalized to the case of 57 Fe isotope in magnetic materials.

Effects of quantum interference on Mossbauer gamma transitions

É. K. Sadykov, L. L. Zakirov, Юричук Александр Александрович

In recent years there became actual studies of quantum interference on gamma spectroscopic transitions induced by coherent perturbations.A special attention is paid to gamma transitions in compound systems. In this work it is shown that quantum interference effects (QIE) occur in gamma quantum spontaneous emission spectrum of an electron-nuclear paramagnetic system when electron spin resonance is induced. Occurrence of QIE is connected to preparation of the quantum system initial state. The role of electron relaxation is defined: increase of relaxation rate leads to extinguishing of QIE. The cases of stationary excitation of Mossbauer levels by wide and narrow spectra are considered.

Controllable quantum interference in Mössbauer spectroscopy: “valve” effect

É. K. Sadykov, Аринин Виталий Валерьевич, Farit G. Vagizov +1 more

A possibility of redistribution of line intensities in the spectrum of resonant Mössbauer scattering due to the RF-stimulated quantum interference of the spectroscopic amplitudes is shown. The three-level Σ scheme in the second order of the perturbation theory with respect to the interaction of γ radiation with nucleus is considered exactly taking into account the resonant RF field. The calculations suggest the use of the 57 Fe isotope in magnetic materials in experiments.

Quantum interference in Moessbauer resonance fluorescence

É. K. Sadykov, Аринин Виталий Валерьевич, L. L. Zakirov

We studied the resonance fluorescence of Moessbauer radiation of Fe57 nuclei with coherently coupled nuclear sublevels. The obtained results prove that the traditional Moessbauer spectroscopy in scattering geometry is effective enough for experimental investigation of the quantum interference of gamma transitions and for studying the coherencies induced by external radiation fields.

Time-dependent perturbation of Mössbauer spectra

M. I. Salkola, Stig Stenholm

In this paper we derive a complete semiclassical description of M\"ossbauer spectroscopy with arbitrary external or internal perturbations of the active levels. The \ensuremath{\gamma} rays are taken to be weak enough to allow us to evaluate the linear M\"ossbauer response to lowest order in the intensity, in which case the \ensuremath{\gamma}-ray field can be treated classically. It induces transitions between level manifolds that can have arbitrary interactions inside themselves. The nuclear system is described by a density matrix. In principle, time-dependent perturbations can be handled by the formalism, but the equations are easier to solve for systems that display steady-state behavior. We consider, in particular, the case of magnetic radio-frequency modulation of the M\"ossbauer levels. Utilizing a matrix-continued-fraction technique, we solve for the absorption spectrum, and we choose numerical illustrations with parameters such that they describe the nucleus $^{57}\mathrm{Fe}$. In this paper we treat mainly the case of magnetic modulation, but other experimental arrangements are discussed too. The calculations are able to treat both saturation and interference effects, which become important when the radio-frequency modulation is very strong. The new feature that emerges is the occurrence of resonances arising from the interference of different physical processes. The calculational method and its results are discussed and compared with other works.
