Abstract

A novel scheme based on linear optics generates a two-photon four-qubit cluster state from a single Bell-state photon pair. Preliminary experimental results show quantum correlations between polarization-path qubits, and path-path qubits, respectively.

Two-photon four-qubit cluster state generation based on a polarization-entangled photon pair

Hee S. Park, Jaeyoon Cho, Jae Yong Lee +2 more

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a two-photon four-qubit cluster state generator using linear optics and a single polarization-entangled photon-pair source based on spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC). Our novel scheme provides greater design flexibility compared to previous schemes that rely on hyperentanglement.

Two-photon four-qubit linear cluster states

Giuseppe Vallone, Enrico Pomarico, F. De Martini +1 more

High fidelity, high count rate four qubit linear cluster states have been realized by using two photons that are entangled both in polarization and linear momentum. Their properties have been investigated by evaluating the entanglement witness and carrying out a "stronger two observer all versus nothing" test of quantum nonlocality. The experimental results concerning the realization of single qubit rotations demonstrates the feasibility of one-way quantum computation by using these states.

Single-photon two-qubit entangled states: Preparation and measurement

Yoon-Ho Kim

We implement experimentally a deterministic method to prepare and measure the so-called single-photon two-qubit entangled states or single-photon Bell states, in which the polarization and the spatial modes of a single photon each represent a quantum bit. All four single-photon Bell states can be easily prepared and measured deterministically using linear optical elements alone. We also discuss how this method can be used for the recently proposed single-photon two-qubit quantum cryptography scheme.

Path Qubit Fusion for Photonic Cluster State Generation

Hee Su Park, Sang Min Lee, Jaeyoon Cho +2 more

This work describes an experimental fusion operation of photonic path qubits. This new method helps to construct a more complex cluster state composed of single-photon two-qubit states that possess both polarization and path qubits.

Single-photon two-qubit entangled states: preparation and measurement

We report an experimental implementation of deterministic preparation and measurement of single-photon two-qubit entangled states, in which the polarization and the spatial modes of a single-photon each represent a quantum bit. It is demonstrated that all four single-photon two-qubit entangled states (Bell states) can be easily prepared and measured deterministically using linear optical elements alone. We also discuss how this scheme can be used for implementing recently proposed single-photon two-qubit quantum cryptography.

Realization and Characterization of a Two-Photon Four-Qubit Linear Cluster State

Giuseppe Vallone, Enrico Pomarico, Paolo Mataloni +2 more

We report on the experimental realization of a four-qubit linear cluster state via two photons entangled both in polarization and linear momentum. This state was investigated by performing tomographic measurements and by evaluating an entanglement witness. By use of this state we carried out a novel nonlocality proof, the so-called "stronger two observer all-versus-nothing" test of quantum nonlocality.
