Population trapping in the Jaynes-Cummings model with a Kerr nonlinearity in the cavity

Anita Bandyopadhyay, Gautam Gangopadhyay

An electromagnetic field state is found which maintains the population inversion of the atom stationary during the interaction with the field through a Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM) with a Kerr type nonlinearity in the cavity. The condition of stationarity of the population inversion includes the phase coupling of atomic dipole with the field. We have shown that the Kerr nonlinearity in the cavity field significantly modifies the photon statistics of the trapped field state through an intensity dependent detuning in the field compared to the normal JCM trapping state. We have also demonstrated the novel features of sub-Poissonian character and the squeezing of the trapped field state. The dynamics of the initial trapped field is studied in terms of squeezing and the Q-function.

Dynamical Properties of a Two-Level Atom in Three Variants of the Two-Photonq-Deformed Jaynes–Cummings Model

M. H. Naderi, M. Soltanolkotabi, R. Roknizadeh

Temporal evolution of atomic properties including the population inversion and quantum fluctuations of atomic dipole variables are discussed in three various variants of two-photon q-deformed Jaynes-Cummings model. With the the field initially being in three different types of q-deformed coherent states, the quantum collapse and revival effects as well as atomic diploe squeezing are studied for both on-and off-resonant atom-field interaction. Particularly, it is shown that for nonzero detuning the atomic inversion exhibits superstructures which are absent in the non-deformed Jaynes-Cummings model and the dipole squeezing may be enhanced.

Heisenberg picture operator solution for the Jaynes-Cummings model with intensity-dependent coupling

Vladimír Bužek

The author has found solutions in the Heisenberg representation for the basic operators of the Jaynes-Cummings model with intensity-dependent coupling. The dipole-dipole correlation function has been evaluated for the most general initial state of the atom-field system. The atomic inversion for various initial states of the cavity field has been obtained in a closed form for the resonant case.
