Abstract

Two new classes of nonclassical states are defined by exciting Hillery's even and odd coherent states. Their physical properties are investigated numerically. It is found that they do not exhibit the squeezing effect but exhibit remarkable characteristics of sub-Poissonian distribution and antibunching. In sharp contrast to the case of excited Glauber coherent states, it is observed that the uncertainty of the field quadrature in excited even and odd coherent states increases with the degree of excitation. It is also seen that the Wigner functions associated with them take negative values for wider regions of parameters compared to those of Hillery's even and odd coherent states.

The Nonclassical Properties of Photon-added Odd (Even) Pair Coherent States

Zhou Min-xuan

The photon-added odd pair coherent states and photon-added even pair coherent states are constructed, and their nonclassical properties are studied with numeric simulation method. The results show that the constructed states are new quantum optical fields that exhibit the nonclassical properties such as the sub-poissonian distribution characters of photon statistics and the antibunching effect. When the photons are added to the two modes of the odd(even) pair coherent states, the sub-poissonian distribution characters of photon statistics can be obviously enhanced.

Nonclassical Properties of the Even and Odd Intermediate Number Squeezed States

Barnana Roy

The even and odd intermediate number squeezed states are introduced. These states reduce to even (odd) number states and even (odd) squeezed coherent states in different limits. It is shown that these states exhibit nonclassical effects such as sub (super) Poissonian statistics, quadrature squeezing, antibunching for certain ranges of the parameters involved.

Its squeezing and sub-Poissonian character are demonstrated. Its generalized quasiprobability distribution functions in the representation are obtained and compared with those of the state and the Agarwal - Tara excited coherent state . Non-classical Properties of Even and Odd Coherent States

Christopher C. Gerry

We present a detailed discussion of even and odd coherent states defined as eigenstates of the single mode two-photon annihilation operator a 2. We study the non-classical properties such as squeezing, higher-order squeezing, and photon antibunching. Also discussed are the various quantum quasiprobability distributions, namely the P function, which is shown to be highly singular, the Q function, and the Wigner, which can take on negative values for these states. Finally, we present a discussion of a possible mechanism for the generation of such states based on the competition between parametric amplification and the incoherent losses from two-photon resonant absorption.

Statistic Properties of the Excited Even and Odd q-Coherent States

Jun Jiang

In this paper, the excited odd q-coherent state a +m qα o q and excited even q-coherent state a +m qα e q are constructed. The q and m dependences of mean photon number and sub-Poissonian character and antibunching effect are numerically studied. It is shown that when the q is far from 1, the second-order q-correlation function exhibits oscillating phenomenon, whose amplitude and period are independent of m; but the mean photon number and the Mandel Q q parameter increase greatly as m increases; and the sub-Poissonian character is not equivalent to the antibunching effect unless q→1.

Properties of new even and odd nonlinear coherent states with different parameters

Cheng Zhang, Rui-Jiao Miao, Xiao-Qiu Qi

We construct a class of nonlinear coherent states (NLCSs) by introducing a more general nonlinear function and study their nonclassical properties, specifically the second-order correlation function [Formula: see text], Mandel parameter Q, squeezing, amplitude-squared squeezing and Wigner function of the optical field. The results indicate that the nonclassical properties of the new types of even and odd NLCSs crucially depend on the nonlinear functions. More concretely, we find that the new even NLCSs could exhibit the photon-bunching effect, whereas the new odd NLCSs could show the photon-antibunching effect. The degree of squeezing is also significantly affected by the parameter selection of these NLCSs. By employing various forms of nonlinear functions, it becomes possible to construct the NLCSs with diverse properties, thereby providing a theoretical foundation for the corresponding experimental investigations.
