Origination of entangled states upon interaction of atoms with narrow-band light

Abstract

Generation and transformation of entangled states in a system of two-level atoms with relaxation interacting with light are considered. It is found that excitation by single-mode squeezed light produces mixed atomic states that prove to be nonseparable. For the field in the Fock state, there may arise Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states comprised of atoms and photons. On the basis of the exact solutions of the multiparticle problem, the generation and transformation of atomic states of the W class, including recording of the photon state, are discussed.

Multiparticle entanglement via resonant interaction between light and atomic ensembles

В. Н. Горбачев, Andrew I. Trubilko

Multiparticle entangled states generated via interaction between narrowband light and an ensemble of identical two-level atoms are considered. Depending on the initial photon statistics, correlation between atoms and photons can give rise to entangled states of these systems. It is found that the state of any pair of atoms interacting with weak single-mode squeezed light is inseparable and robust against decay. Optical schemes for preparing entangled states of atomic ensembles by projective measurement are described.

Entangled states of atoms upon interaction with narrowband light

В. Н. Горбачев, A. I. Zhiliba, A. A. Rodichkina +1 more

The process of resonant interaction of light with two-level atoms in the absence of relaxation is considered. For a special form of initial conditions, simple and exact solutions are found that describe coherent processes leading to the appearance of many-particle entangled W -class states. These processes can be used for preparation and transformation of entangled states, in particular, for problems of quantum memory and generation of entangled atomic chains.

Schemes for preparation of W-and GHZ-class states from atoms and atomic ensembles

В. Н. Горбачев, A. A. Rodichkina, Andrew I. Trubilko

Independent systems, each containing an atomic ensemble entangled through the interaction with its own photon, can be, in turn, entangled in the course of measurements. Schemes for preparing states of the W and Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) classes with the use of projective measurements of light that include three-photon parametric interactions are proposed and analyzed.

Entanglement and the SU(2) phase states in atomic systems

M. Ali Can, Alexander A. Klyachko, A.S. Shumovsky

We show that a system of $2n$ identical two-level atoms interacting with n cavity photons manifests entanglement and that the set of entangled states coincides with the so-called SU(2) phase states. In particular, violation of classical realism in terms of the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and Clauser-Horne-Shimoni-Holt conditions is proved. We discuss a property of entanglement expressed in terms of local measurements. We also show that generation of entangled states in the atom-photon systems under consideration strongly depends on the choice of initial conditions and that the parasitic influence of cavity detuning can be compensated through the use of Kerr medium.

Quadripartite cluster and Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger entangled light via cascade interactions with separated atomic ensembles

Xing Li, Xiangming Hu

It has been known that two-mode entangled light can possibly be generated by employing near-resonant interaction with an ensemble of two-level atoms. The responsible mechanism is the absorption of two photons from the strong driving field and the emission of two new photons into the cavity field. Here, we generalize such a mechanism to three separated atomic ensembles and establish cascade interactions for four nondegenerate fields. It is shown that the quadripartite cluster and Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger entangled states occur for continuous variables. The advantage of the present scheme for the multipartite entanglement lies in that the coupling strengths are much larger due to the near resonances than for far-off-resonance-based parametric processes.

On preparation of the atomic W-states

В. Н. Горбачев, A. A. Rodichkina, Andrew I. Trubilko +1 more

We analyse possibilities for quantum state engineering offered by the resonance Raman type interaction of light with ensembles of two-level atoms taking account relaxation to prepare and control of entangled states. It is found that atomic entanglement of the W-class can be obtained during evolution of atoms interacted with a single mode squeezed light. Two schemes, involving projection measurements that result in multipartite W-like states, are introduced.
