Schemes for preparation of W-and GHZ-class states from atoms and atomic ensembles

Abstract

Independent systems, each containing an atomic ensemble entangled through the interaction with its own photon, can be, in turn, entangled in the course of measurements. Schemes for preparing states of the W and Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) classes with the use of projective measurements of light that include three-photon parametric interactions are proposed and analyzed.

A simplified scheme for realizing Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states

Shi-Biao Zheng

In the context of cavity QED a scheme is proposed for the generation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states. In the scheme three appropriately prepared atoms are sent through an initially empty cavity. Choosing the interaction time of each atom with the field appropriately, the three atoms are finally in a state having the GHZ form. The scheme is easily generalized for preparing n -atom entangled states.

Scheme for implementing W state, Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state, and cluster state via cavity-assisted interaction

Bao‐Long Fang, Ye Liu

We propose a proposal for preparing the entanglement state among four trapped atoms via cavity-assisted interaction. In this scheme, a basic architecture will be built to produce the entangled state of four remote atoms. By adjusting a series of parameters and taking the single-photon pulses measurement, the architecture can realize the W state, the Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state, and the cluster state. Further, this scheme is insensitive to variation of the atom–photon coupling rate.

Robust preparation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and W states of three distant atoms

Chang‐shui Yu, X. X. Yi, He‐Shan Song +1 more

Schemes to generate Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) and $W$ states of three distant atoms are proposed in this paper. The schemes use the effects of quantum statistics of indistinguishable photons emitted by the atoms inside optical cavities. The advantages of the schemes are their robustness against detection inefficiency and asynchronous emission of the photons. Moreover, in Lamb-Dicke limit, the schemes do not require the simultaneous click of the detectors. This makes the schemes more realizable in experiments.

Schemes for Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger and cluster state preparation

Jie Song, Yan Xia, He‐Shan Song

Schemes to generate Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) and cluster states of three atoms are proposed in a two-mode cavity. The advantages of the schemes are their robustness against decoherence due to spontaneous emission of the excited states and decay of the cavity modes. Moreover, the schemes can be generalized to generate N -atom entangled states.

Probabilistic and robust preparation of a GHZ-type state via atomic ensembles and linear optics

Xiaosong Lu, Bao-Sen Shi, Guo Guang-Can

This paper proposes two simple and robust schemes to generate an atomic-ensemble Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger-type (GHZ-type) entangled state via linear optics and single photon detection. These schemes are based on two-photon Hong–Ou–Mandel-type interference, therefore they are insensitive to the phase fluctuation. This advantage will make the realizations of these two schemes easier. One scheme can scale efficiently with the number of ensembles because of the used quantum memory. Both schemes are also robust to the noise and within the reach of current technology.
