Series Analysis of a Three-state Potts Model with Three-site Interactions

Abstract

Series expansions are used to investigate a three-state Potts model which has two-site interactions on the bonds of a triangular lattice and three-site interactions on alternate triangles. Although some of the exponent estimates show variations with interaction strengths, the assumption of scaling constrains the permitted exponent values to such an extent that the possible variations lie within the ranges of uncertainty of individual exponent estimates.

Two three-state Potts models: the universality of confluent corrections to scaling

Joan Adler, Ian Graham Enting, Vladimir Privman A

The authors present a study of an extended (35-power) low-temperature series for the susceptibility of the ordinary two-site three-state Potts model on the square lattice as well as reanalyses of several extant series for the three-site three-state Potts model on the triangular lattice. Dominant and confluent singularities are investigated and the exponents of both are found to be universal and in agreement with known and conjectured exact values.

Universality in a generalised Potts model

Ian Graham Enting

A three-state Potts model with pure three-site interactions is analysed using low-temperature series expansions. Universality predicts that the exponents alpha ' and beta should be the same as for the 'hard-hexagons' lattice gas: 1/3 and 1/9 respectively. The series estimates are consistent with these predictions, and the estimates of gamma ' are consistent with the scaling value of 14/9.

Series expansion analysis of corrections to scaling in the three-state Potts model

Joan Adler, Vladimir Privman A

Several extant series for the d=2, q=3 Potts model are analysed with a method that explicitly accounts for the effect of confluent corrections to scaling. Excellent agreement with the conjectured exponents for this model is found, as well as confirmation of renormalisation group estimates of the sub-leading eigenvalue.

High-field series expansions and critical properties for the three-state Potts model

S Mivashita, Donald D. Betts, C. J. Elliott

High-field series expansions are presented for the three-state Potts model on the square, simple cubic and body centred cubic lattices. Estimates of the critical exponents for two dimensions are beta =0.1064+or-0.0005, gamma '=1.50+or-0.04 and delta =15.5+or-1.5. It is plausible that the three-dimensional model undergoes a second-order phase transition with exponents beta =0.203+or-0.004, gamma '=1.18+or-0.05 and delta =7.0+or-0.3.

Low-temperature expansions for Potts models

Gyan V Bhanot, Michael J. Creutz, Uwe Glässner +4 more

On simple-cubic lattices, we compute low-temperature series expansions for the energy, magnetization, and susceptibility of the three-state Potts model in D=2 and D=3 to 45 and 39 excited bonds, respectively, and the eight-state Potts model in D=2 to 25 excited bonds. We use a recursive procedure that enumerates states explicitly. We analyze the series with Dlog Pad\'e analysis and inhomogeneous differential approximants.

Universality of Potts models with two- and three-site interactions

Fa Yueh Wu, Eugene Stanley

The $q$-state Potts model on the triangular lattice with both two- and three-spin interactions $K$ and $L$ (the Schick-Griffiths model) is shown to be equivalent to the $q$-state Potts model on a 3-12 lattice with only two-spin interactions ${J}_{1}$ and ${J}_{2}$. In particular, the ${J}_{1}>0$ and ${J}_{2}>0$ model is mapped into a Schick-Griffiths model for a range of the coupling parameters $K$ and $L$, so that the two models are in the same universality class. We also show that a recent conjecture by Tsallis on the critical point of the 3-12 model is incorrect.

The qqq-state Potts model on the triangular lattice with both two- and three-spin interactions KKK and LLL (the Schick-Griffiths model) is shown to be equivalent to the qqq-state Potts model on a 3-12 lattice with only two-spin interactions J1{J}_{1}J1 and J2{J}_{2}J2. In particular, the J1>0{J}_{1}>0J1>0 and J2>0{J}_{2}>0J2>0 model is mapped into a Schick-Griffiths model for a range of the coupling parameters KKK and LLL, so that the two models are in the same universality class. We also show that a recent conjecture by Tsallis on the critical point of the 3-12 model is incorrect.
