Abstract

The dynamical critical index z is calculated for the two-dimensional Potts model on square lattice using a Migdal-type recursion method generalized to dynamics.Received 1 October 1979DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevB.22.415©1980 American Physical Society

Critical dynamics of the two-dimensional Potts model

Eduardo Lage

A dynamical theory for the Potts, model, recently introduced by the author, is applied to the two-dimensional, nearest-neighbour system. A decimation procedure is defined and, in the leading order of the approximations involved, the critical dynamical exponent is obtained for different numbers of Potts states.

Critical dynamics of the one-dimensional Potts model

Eduardo Lage

Uses the method developed by Achiam and Kosterlitz (1978) to obtain the dynamical critical exponent of the one-dimensional q-state Potts model. The author finds z=3 (q>2) and z=2 (q=2), thus confirming lower-bound estimates found previously.

Dynamics of the one-dimensional Potts model

We consider the q-state Potts model in one dimension for the cases q${=2}^{m}$, m=1,2,3,. . . . The dynamical critical exponent is calculated with use of the real-space renormalization-group method. We find z=2 in the 4- and 8-state models, which agrees with the Ising case, and speculate that this generalizes to any m.
