Abstract

We demonstrate the unconditional quantum teleportation of a squeezed state of light. We observe -0.8± 0.2dB of squeezing in the teleported state. Our experiment also demonstrates the first unconditional quantum teleportation of entanglement.

Experimental Demonstration of Quantum Teleportation of Broadband Squeezing

Hidehiro Yonezawa, Samuel L. Braunstein, Akira Furusawa

We demonstrate an unconditional high-fidelity teleporter capable of preserving the broadband entanglement in an optical squeezed state. In particular, we teleport a squeezed state of light and observe -0.8+/-0.2 dB of squeezing in the teleported (output) state. We show that the squeezing criterion translates directly into a sufficient criterion for entanglement of the upper and lower sidebands of the optical field. Thus, this result demonstrates the first unconditional teleportation of broadband entanglement. Our teleporter achieves sufficiently high fidelity to allow the teleportation to be cascaded, enabling, in principle, the construction of deterministic non-Gaussian operations.

Unconditional Quantum Teleportation

Akira Furusawa, Jens Lykke Sørensen, Samuel L. Braunstein +3 more

Quantum teleportation of optical coherent states was demonstrated experimentally using squeezed-state entanglement. The quantum nature of the achieved teleportation was verified by the experimentally determined fidelity Fexp = 0.58 +/- 0.02, which describes the match between input and output states. A fidelity greater than 0.5 is not possible for coherent states without the use of entanglement. This is the first realization of unconditional quantum teleportation where every state entering the device is actually teleported.

Experimental demonstration of quantum teleportation of a squeezed state

Nobuyuki Takei, Takao Aoki, Satoshi Koike +8 more

Quantum teleportation of a squeezed state is demonstrated experimentally. Due to some inevitable losses in experiments, a squeezed vacuum necessarily becomes a mixed state which is no longer a minimum uncertainty state. We establish an operational method of evaluation for quantum teleportation of such a state using fidelity and discuss the classical limit for the state. The measured fidelity for the input state is $0.85\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.05$, which is higher than the classical case of $0.73\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.04$. We also verify that the teleportation process operates properly for the nonclassical state input and its squeezed variance is certainly transferred through the process. We observe the smaller variance of the teleported squeezed state than that for the vacuum state input.

Generation of non-classical states of light and their application in deterministic quantum teleportation

Zhihui Yan, Jiliang Qin, Zhongzhong Qin +4 more

Non-classical states of light, which include squeezed and entangled states of light, are the cornerstone of quantum mechanics and quantum information sciences. To date, non-classical states of light with much higher quality than before are required to develop high-fidelity quantum information processing and high-precision quantum metrology. Squeezed and entangled states with approximately 10 dB noise below the corresponding shot noise limit have been generated using a series of methods, which means that the noise variance reaches a few percent of the vacuum noise. Quantum teleportation, which means transferring an unknown quantum state from a sending station to a distant receiving station supported by entangled states, is the foundation of quantum computation and quantum communication networks. Quantum teleportation in continuous variable regions is unconditional because the entangled states used are always deterministic. The quantum teleportation distance was recently extended to the order of kilometers, which paves the way for constructing a practical quantum information network.

Unconditional teleportation of continuous-variable entanglement

Peter van Loock, Samuel L. Braunstein

We give a protocol and criteria for demonstrating unconditional teleportation of continuous-variable entanglement (i.e., entanglement swapping). The initial entangled states are produced with squeezed light and linear optics. We show that any nonzero entanglement (any nonzero squeezing) in both of two entanglement sources is sufficient for entanglement swapping to occur. In fact, realization of continuous-variable entanglement swapping is possible using only two single-mode squeezed states.

Quantum teleportation of a squeezed state

Quantum teleportation of a squeezed state is demonstrated experimentally. We observe the less variance of the teleported squeezed state than that for the vacuum state input. We verify that the teleportation process operates properly for the nonclassical state input. Using fidelity, we evaluate our results. The fidelity for the squeezed state input is 0.85 which is higher than the classical case of 0.73. This work is an important step toward entanglement swapping.
