Abstract

Based on a scheme that produces pure entanglement between the spin and the path variables of a single spin‐1/2 particle (qubit) using a beam‐splitter and a spin flipper, we formulate a procedure for transferring this intraparticle hybrid entanglement to an interparticle pure entanglement between the spin variables of two other spatially separated spin‐1/2 particles which never interact with each other during the entire process. We extend the above procedure to the case of mixed states. The mixed state is generated when path‐spin entanglement in a particle passes through a noisy channel such as an amplitude damping channel. We then show that the spin‐spin entanglement at the output is useful for quantum information processing if the noise parameter is less than a certain value.

Swapping path-spin intraparticle entanglement onto spin-spin interparticle entanglement

This procedure of entanglement swapping is accomplished by a Mach-Zehnder setup in conjunction with the Stern-Gerlach measuring device, using suitable unitary operations. The proposed protocol, thus, enables the use of intraparticle entanglement as a resource - a feature that has remained unexplored.

A Protocol for Conversion of Path-Spin to Spin-Spin Quantum Entanglement

Indranil Bayal, Pradipta Panchadhyayee

The present model deals with a protocol which involves the generation and conversion of entanglement from path-spin (P-S) hybrid entanglement associated with half-spin particle to spin-spin (S-S) interparticle entanglement. This protocol finds its applications in quantum information processing via a series of operations which include a beam splitter, spin flipper, spin measurement, classical channel, unitary transformations. Finally, it leads to two particles having completely entangled spin variables, without any requirement of any simultaneous operation on the two particles.

Intraparticle entanglement in noisy quantum channels: degradation and revival through amplitude damping

Animesh Sinha Roy, C. V. Namitha, Subroto Mukerjee +2 more

Quantum correlations between two or more different degrees of freedom of the same particle are sometimes referred to as intraparticle entanglement. In this work, we study these intraparticle correlations between two different degrees of freedom under various decoherence channels, viz. amplitude damping, depolarizing, and phase damping channels. We mainly focus on the amplitude-damping channel for which we obtain an exact analytical expression for the concurrence of an arbitrary initial pure state. In this channel, we observe the unique feature of entanglement arising from a separable initial state. We show that this channel allows for a revival of entanglement with an increasing damping parameter, including from a zero value of the concurrence. We also consider the amplitude-damping channel for interparticle entanglement and show that it does not display any of the above-mentioned interesting features. Further, for comparable parameters, the decay of entanglement in the interparticle system is much greater than in the intraparticle system, which we also find to be true for the phase damping and depolarizing channels. Thus, intraparticle entanglement subjected to damping is much more robust than interparticle entanglement.

Purifying entanglement of noisy two-qubit states via entanglement swapping

Wei Song, Ming Yang, Zhuo‐Liang Cao

Two qubits in pure entangled states going through separate paths and interacting with their own individual environments will gradually lose their entanglement. Here we show that the entanglement change of a two-qubit state due to amplitude damping noises can be recovered by entanglement swapping. Some initial states can be asymptotically purified into maximally entangled states by iteratively using our protocol.

Research on Intraparticle to Interparticle Entanglement Swapping Protocols

Jiangmei Tang, Shaomeng Wang, Bingyang Liang +1 more

Entanglement is one of the most striking features of quantum systems, whereby its non-classical correlation is an essential resource in numerous quantum protocols. Entanglement can be divided into two categories: interparticle and intraparticle entanglement. There are both distinctions and similarities between these two kinds of entangled states. This work delves into these distinctions and similarities from the following aspects: correlation and non-locality, robustness, the mechanisms of generation and separation, and practical applications. Entanglement swapping is a technique based on quantum entanglement. As entanglement has different categories, entanglement swapping also has various types, including interparticle to interparticle and intraparticle to interparticle. Swapping protocols from intraparticle entanglement to interparticle entanglement can be applied to super quantum dense encoding, quantum information transmission, quantum teleportation, etc. Thus, this work proposes three swapping protocols, from spin–orbit intraparticle entanglement to spin–spin interparticle entanglement, based on Bell state joint measurement, the cross-Kerr medium, and linear optical elements. This work can help us better understand entanglement by analyzing the differences and similarities between the two types of entangled states. It can also enhance entanglement swapping protocols, from spin–orbit intraparticle to spin–spin interparticle entanglement, for use in quantum information transfer.

Quantum Information Transformation from One Particle onto another Particle by Using Hybrid and Hyper Entangled States

Necati Çeli̇k, Vikram Verma

In this paper, we propose two protocols for the transfer of quantum information carried by one particle onto another particle by using the path-spin hybrid and hyper entangled states as the quantum resources. It has been shown that the double slit arrangement with a spin flipper at one of its openings can be used for the generation of path-spin hybrid and hyper entangled states. By using such path-spin entangled states as the quantum resource, the quantum information encoded in one particle is transferred to another particle via spin and path measurements.
