Abstract

In this paper, we studied emission photons statistical properties of the V type three level system driven by a strong pump field and a weak probe filed using the generating function approach. The results demonstrate that the lineshape shows Autler-Townes splitting phenomenon for the case of electric dipole moments orthogonal. The lineshape, however, shows a coherent population trapping like phenomenon for the case of electric dipole moments parallel. We can control the emission photons of the system through modifying the frequency of probe field.

Coherent optical spectroscopy of a single quantum dot using photon counting statistics

Yonggang Peng, Yujun Zheng

We present the theory of coherent optical spectroscopy for single quantum dot under the pump-probe driving. We generally study the line shapes, Mandel's $Q$ parameters, and few photon emission probabilities of single quantum dot system. The probe signals demonstrate the Autler-Townes splitting effect, and the first moment of our results confirms recent experimental results [Xu et al., Science 317, 929 (2007)]. We show that the pump and probe fields modify the emission photon statistical properties and control emission photon properties.

Emission photon statistics of V-type three-level single molecule with permanent dipoles

Long Shi

In this paper,we discuss the emission photon statistics of V -type three-level single molecule with permanent dipoles, which driven by continuous laser and electric radio frequency(rf) fields, via the generating function method developed recently. The average emission photon numbersN,lineshapes and the Mandel's Q parameters are studied at different detuning frequency and rf strength(internsity). The waiting time distribution w(t) is also studied. The results demonstrate that the emission photon statistical properties is strongly affected by the laser frequency and rf strength(intensity),in the other hand,we can control the emission photons through the external field.

Coherent spectroscopy of a strongly driven triple quantum dot molecule

Yan Xie, Suqing Duan, Weidong Chu +1 more

Based on a calculation model, we study the interference phenomena of serially coupled V-type and Λ-type triple quantum dots (CTQDs) driven simultaneously by a strong driving field and a weak probe field. Strongly depending on the configuration of the three-level CTQD, the probe absorption spectra, which are shown in the tunneling current, exhibit various quantum coherence properties. In the case where the two pairs of transitions of the CTQD have a small eigenfrequency difference Δω, the double-coupling effect of the driving field results in two Autler—Townes doublets and one weak Mollow triplet in one spectrum. With the value of Δω increasing, only one Autler—Townes splitting remains due to the single-coupling of the field. We also find that the effect of spontaneous emission of phonons may lead to an obvious background current, which can be used to distinguish which transition is driven by the driving field in experiment. The interesting quantum property of a CTQD revealed in our results suggests its potential applications in quantum modulators and quantum logic devices.

Subnatural spontaneous emission spectra in driven atoms: the V-model

L. M. Narducci, P. Ru, Jorge R. Tredicce +2 more

The coherent coupling of atomic levels under the action of driving electromagnetic fields is known to create unusual and interesting effects, such as the well-known population trapping phenomenon and subnatural line narrowing. In this paper we discuss two alternative configurations of three-level atoms, the cascade model and the inverted-V (lambda) model, in an effort to provide alternative options for experimental tests. In both cases we focus on the fluorescent emission spectrum of an atom driven by two resonant fields and on the absorption spectrum of a weak probe passing through a gas in such a driven system. Subnatural line narrowing can be obtained from the cascade system but not from the lambda system. The lambda system, however, is characterized by strong population trapping, so that it is not suitable for fluorescence studies (except out of resonance) because of its strongly reduced emission rate. The absorption spectrum of a weak probe displays gain features under high-field conditions which suggest that useful amplification of a probe or laser-like emission should be possible over appropriate frequency ranges. We give a physical interpretation of the origin of the gain and explain why that in the case of a lambda system, but not a cascade system, steady-state population inversion can be obtained between both excited states relative to the lowest state of the atom. We also discuss the effect of Doppler broadening on the predicted emission and absorption lineshapes.

Photon statistics of V-type three-level system in single quantum dots

Yonggang Peng, Yujun Zheng

Based on the generating function approach developed recently, the theoretical study of the photon emission statistics in single InGaAs∕GaAs quantum dots is presented. We show the X- and Y-polarized photon emission statistics, the joint probabilities and marginal probabilities of V-type three-level system in single quantum dots driven by single pulse and a pair of pulses, respectively. The first moment confirm known experimental results while the Mandel’s Q parameters results display complex behaviors.
