Abstract

Based on the generating function approach developed recently, the theoretical study of the photon emission statistics in single InGaAs∕GaAs quantum dots is presented. We show the X- and Y-polarized photon emission statistics, the joint probabilities and marginal probabilities of V-type three-level system in single quantum dots driven by single pulse and a pair of pulses, respectively. The first moment confirm known experimental results while the Mandel’s Q parameters results display complex behaviors.

Statistics property of polarized photon emission driven bya pair of pulses in single quantum dot

We study the properties of the x- and the y-polarized photons of the single quantum dot system driven by a pair of pulses using the generating function approach. Our results show that the quantum interference effects on the line shapes and the Mandels parameter Q of the x- and y-polarized photons and the linear and the nonlinear cross correlations are important.

Cross-Polarized Single Photon Emission from Single Semiconductor Quantum Dots with V-Type Level Driven by Pulse Field

Liu Wen-Juan, Yaoyi Li

The statistic properties of photon emissions from single semiconductor quantum dots with V-type level driven by pulses are investigated theoretically Based on quantum regression theorem and master equations, the dynamic equations of the second-order correlation function of the photon emissions are deduced. The calculated results reveal that the efficiency of single photon emissions from two orthogonal polarization eigenstates (|x〉 and |y〉) reaches the maximum when the input pulses area is about π, and the probability of the cross-polarized single photon emission from |x〉 and |y〉 decreases with increasing of pulse width.

Single molecule photon emission statistics of driven three-level systems

Yonggang Peng, Yujun Zheng, Frank L. H. Brown

We study the statistics of photon emission from three-level single molecule systems. The generating function method [Y. Zheng and F. L. H. Brown, Phys. Rev. Lett. 90, 238305 (2003)] is used to calculate steady state absorption line shapes and Mandel's Q parameter as a function of excitation frequency, as well as the time dependence associated with approach to the steady state. The line shape calculations confirm known results derived via other methods, while the Q parameter results display complex frequency dependences not amenable to simple interpretation. This study confirms the applicability of the generating function formalism to multilevel quantum systems, including the proper modeling of quantum coherence effects.

Single-molecule photon emission statistics for systems with explicit time dependence: Generating function approach

Generating function calculations are extended to allow for laser pulse envelopes of arbitrary shape in numerical applications. We investigate photon emission statistics for two-level and V- and Lambda-type three-level systems under time-dependent excitation. Applications relevant to electromagnetically induced transparency and photon emission from single quantum dots are presented.

Photon Statistical Properties Emitted from Single Molecule Derived from Generating Function Method

In this paper, we summarize the photon emission statistical properties of single molecule system, using the recently developed generating function method. Through the introduce of one or double “auxiliary” variables, we can investigate the first moment and second moment of photon emission statistics driven by different external fields, such as the line shapes and Mandel's Q parameters, the photon emission probabilities, the probability distribution of time between successive emission, the waiting time and the waiting time distribution, the cross correlation, the joint probabilities, etc. Among, the first moment of photon statistics and the experimental results of optical amplification are in good agreement.

Photon emission of single quantum dot driven by continuous external field studied by using the generating function

We studied the properties of the X- and Y- polarized photon emission from the single quantum dot system driven by external cw laser using the generating function approach developed recently. The results demonstrate that the X- and Y- polarized photon show sine or cosine behavior with the field direction in the weak field region. They show, however, stronger nonlinear behavior in the strong field region.
