Suppression of closed-loop photocurrent fluctuation below amplifier dark noise

Jianping Yin, Weijian Gao, Yifu Zhu +1 more

Suppression of the closed-loop photocurrent fluctuation below the amplifier dark noise was observed in both a negative-feedback light-emitting diode and a laser diode. We apply the concept of an anticorrelation light state proposed by Masalov et al to analyze the anticorrelation effect between the measured photocurrent fluctuation and the amplifier dark noise, which successfully explains our experimental observations. Our theoretical analysis also yields the squeezed spectrum of the light intensity fluctuation in the loop and the correlation coefficient between the photocurrent and the amplifier noise.

Feedback-measurement–induced anticorrelation between in-loop photocurrent fluctuation and amplifier dark noise

Jianping Yin, Weijian Gao, Yuzhu Wang +2 more

Suppression of in-loop photocurrent fluctuation below the amplifier dark noise was observed in both a negative-feedback light-emitting diode (LED) and a laser diode (LD). We use a new semiclassical model to analyze the squeezed mechanism of the in-loop photocurrent noise mentioned above and find that there is a feedback-measurement–induced anticorrelation effect between the measured photocurrent fluctuation and the amplifier dark noise, which results in the suppression of the in-loop photocurrent fluctuation below the amplifier dark noise. Our theoretical analysis gives the correlation coefficient between the photocurrent fluctuation and amplifier noise, and also yields the squeezed spectrum of the in-loop intensity fluctuation according to our experimental results.

Generation of Sub-Poissonian Light in an Open-Loop LED System by the Quantum Correlation

Jianping Yin, Yuzhu Wang

This paper describes the generation and observation of sub-Poissonian light in an open-loop system with low quantum efficiency at room temperature. The experimental results show that the photocurrent fluctuation spectrum density can be reduced below the shot noise limit by 72% (-5.5 dB) in an open-loop light-emitting diode (LED) system at the frequency of 2 MHz. The noise reduction is not limited by quantum efficiency of the LED, or the current transfer efficiency.
