Influence of interference effects of spontaneous emission on the behavior and spectra of resonance fluorescence of a three-level atom in a strong wave field

A. A. Panteleev, Vl. K. Rerikh, A. N. Starostin

An investigation is made of the influence of quantum interference processes accompanying radiative relaxation of excited states on the population dynamics, total intensity, and spectra of the resonance fluorescence of three-level V -type atoms. Analytic expressions are obtained for the total intensity and spectra of the resonance fluorescence taking into account the off-diagonal nature of the radiative relaxation operator. It is shown that quantum interference process can substantially alter the total spontaneous emission intensity of the atoms and the population dynamics of the atomic levels, as well as the resonance fluorescence spectra.

Spontaneous emission without field quantization

Richard J. Cook

A theory of spontaneous emission is presented which does not quantize the radiation field. By allowing the atomic electron's radiation-reaction field to act in the equation of motion for the atomic density operator, the theory accounts for sponteneous emission without leaving the Hilbert space of the atom. The theory is quite simple and leads to exactly the same relaxation terms in the density-operator equation of motion as those predicted by the quantum theory of radiation.

Spontaneous emission from the atom stabilized by a strong high-frequency laser field

Anna V. Bogatskaya, Ekaterina A. Volkova, A. M. Popov

Abstract The spontaneous emission of a quantum system driven by a high-intensity, high-frequency classical laser field is analyzed. The study is based on the accurate consideration of the quantum system interacting with vacuum-quantized field modes in the first order of perturbation theory, while the intense laser field is considered classically beyond this theory. It is demonstrated that the spectrum of the spontaneous emission can be used for analyzing the strong-field dynamics and the structure of the energy spectrum of an atomic system. In particular, it is found that in high-frequency fields (where the energy of the laser quanta is greater than the ionization potential) atoms manifest the features of the Kramers–Henneberger atom. It is also found that in the stabilization regime, the atom emits both odd and even laser radiation harmonics.
