Abstract

To ensure security in communication. existing quantum cryptosystems need the support of classical cryptosystem. This is a long-standing conceptual drawback of quantum cryptography. It is pointed out that without any support of classical cryptosystem quantum cryptosystem can alone provide security in communication. That is, secure quantum communication is possible.

No-cloning principal can alone provide security

Arindam Mitra

Existing quantum key distribution schemes need the support of classical authentication scheme to ensure security. This is a conceptual drawback of quantum cryptography. It is pointed out that quantum cryptosystem does not need any support of classical cryptosystem to ensure security. No-cloning principal can alone provide security in communication. Even no-cloning principle itself can help to authenticate each bit of information. It implies that quantum password need not to be a secret password.

The Role of Quantum and Post-Quantum Techniques in Wireless Network Security - Status, Challenges and Future Trends

Sattar B. Sadkhan, Rana Abbas

One of the most essential ways of communication is the wireless network. As a result, ensuring the security of information transmitted across wireless networks is a critical concern. For wireless networks, classical cryptography provides conditional security with several loopholes, but quantum cryptography claims to be unconditionally safe. People began to consider beyond classical cryptosystems for protecting future electronic communication when quantum computers became functional. With all of these flaws in classical cryptosystems in mind, people began to consider beyond it for protecting future electronic communication. Quantum cryptography addresses practically all flaws in traditional cryptography.

Unconditionally secure cryptosystem based on quantum cryptography

Yu‐Fang Chung, Zhen Yu Wu, Feipei Lai +1 more

Most cryptographic works these days have employed mathematical concepts to design cryptosystems and algorithms. Therefore, mathematical concepts have become critical in the designing of cryptosystems, and are generally used to analyze cryptosystems and protocols, supporting the allegation that the intended cryptosystem is secure. In earlier cryptosystems, most algorithms were based on either factorization or discrete logarithm problem. This system has an overtly simple mathematical background and so, requires extensive secondary index computation. Therefore, a securer method must be developed to protect system security and to optimize system efficiency.Quantum cryptography detects intrusion and wiretapping. In quantum mechanics, a wiretap is not external or passive, but the opposite-changing its entity according to the internal component of the system. The status of the system changes once a wiretap is detected. Therefore, only the designer of the system can determine the quantum status of the system; eavesdroppers can neither determine the quantum status nor duplicate the system.Since quantum cryptosystem can reach unconditional security, it actually guarantees secure communication.Accordingly, this study examines quantum cryptography and contributes to secure quantum cryptography.

Exploring the Role of Quantum Computing in Cryptography

Gaurav Kumar, Dr. Nitish

The lightning pace of the progress in quantum computing has far-reaching ramifications in cryptography and most common cryptographic operations, guaranteeing confidentiality, verifiability, integrity, are susceptible. Shor breaks such protocols in polynomial time. Like in the case of the public key systems, symmetric systems fall under the attack of a Grover algorithm that halves its practical key size. This paper views two sides of the two-fold impact of quantum computers on cryptography: they are disruptive to the classical cryptosystems, and could be enabling to the quantum-resistant ones. Prefix-new post-quantum cryptosystems, which include the lattice-based, hash-based, and multivariate Although security achieved using quantum based technologies is conceptually un-hackable, various practical concerns are still to be met including how its mass production can be scaled, cost/infrastructure. The review highlights on the imminent necessity of the future-leaning study, standardization, and global collaboration to maintain digital communication within the quantum era, ensuring a safe transition between the classical and the post-quantum cryptosystems.

Quantum communication is a new interdisciplinary research field which combines the classical communication theories and quantum mechanics, and is the only theory, widely acknowledged by researchers worldwide, that can realize unconditionally secured communication. This essay analyzes the security weaknesses of the existing cryptosystems, reviews the concept of quantum cryptosystem, examines in details the complete process of the most typical quantum security key distribution protocol-the BB84 protocol-and analyzes its security.
