Abstract

One of the most essential ways of communication is the wireless network. As a result, ensuring the security of information transmitted across wireless networks is a critical concern. For wireless networks, classical cryptography provides conditional security with several loopholes, but quantum cryptography claims to be unconditionally safe. People began to consider beyond classical cryptosystems for protecting future electronic communication when quantum computers became functional. With all of these flaws in classical cryptosystems in mind, people began to consider beyond it for protecting future electronic communication. Quantum cryptography addresses practically all flaws in traditional cryptography.

Post-quantum Techniques in Wireless Network Security: An Overview

Hassan Falah Fakhruldeen, Rana Abbas Al-Kaabi, Feryal Ibrahim Jabbar +2 more

Post quantum is a general name to all the techniques which are safe against the quantum computer attack. The wireless network is one of the most important means of communication. Wireless network security is a top priority. Wireless networks use conventional cryptography, which has various flaws, whereas quantum cryptography claims to be completely secure. It wasn't long after quantum computers became operational that people began to think about new ways to secure electronic communications. After considering all of the weaknesses in conventional cryptosystems, individuals began to look for new ways to secure electronic communications. Traditional cryptography has many problems, but quantum cryptography addresses nearly all of them.

A Novel and Hybrid Post Quantum Cryptographic algorithm for Enhanced Security in Wireless Networks

Mutya Sirisha Adapa, Dr.P.Venkateswara Rao

Cryptography enables modern-day secure communication. The advancement of quantum algorithms has made classical cryptosystems ineffective. Important data has been encrypted and verified using digital signatures and cryptography. Classical cryptography systems were on the edge of collapse when quantum algorithms were introduced, since quantum computers can solve complex problems in less time. It is important to be prepared for future threats, even if standard cryptosystems are presumably safe for the moment being because quantum computing is not yet developed. One use of quantum cryptography is quantum key distribution (QKD), which is a way to safely share encryption keys between communication parties by utilizing quantum physics. Hybrid classical-quantum methods offer protection from both classical & quantum attackers, which can help smooth the way for the change. We introduce a new way to build hybrid encryption schemes from preexisting ones. First, the paper examines classical cryptosystems vulnerability to quantum computers. Then, it investigate into different families of post-quantum cryptosystems, checks in on the NIST's post-quantum cryptography consistency process, and finally, compares the performance of algorithms using post-quantum cryptography on various platforms. Along with discussing and evaluating current methods, this paper also discusses a novel hybrid quantum cryptographic system that employs message authentication codes with enhanced lattice based cryptography.

Quantum Cryptography for Secure Wireless Communication

M. Navya

Through the application of principles from quantum physics, quantum cryptography is a cutting-edge technology that offers unparalleled protection for communication protocols. The fundamental concepts of quantum cryptography are discussed in this article. These principles include quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols like BB84 and E91, as well as their use in the process of constructing secure communication channels to ensure confidentiality. For the purpose of detecting any unlawful interception of information, quantum cryptography makes use of quantum properties such as superposition and entanglement. This provides a technique of secure communication that has the potential to be unbreakable. The research investigates the current state of quantum cryptography research, which includes recent advancements, challenges, and potential future directions. The study highlights the critical significance of quantum cryptography in addressing security concerns within modern communication networks in the face of increasing cyber threats.

Quantum Safe Cryptography for Future Communication Networks

Ramesh Chandra Vuppala, R Rajavelsamy, Rohini Rajendran +1 more

Mobile communication networks are becoming more ubiquitous than ever and are rapidly evolving with increasing adoption beyond traditional services such as voice and data. With 5G and emerging 6G standards, wireless communication networks are expected to play a critical role in various domains including AI-enabled services, robotics, industrial automation, and human critical services. In this context, ensuring the security of mobile networks through a security-first design approach is paramount. Current classical cryptosystems in communication networks rely on asymmetric key cryptography, which is vulnerable to attacks by adversaries equipped with quantum computing capabilities. To address this, solutions such as Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) algorithms standardized by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and hybrid approaches combining traditional and PQC algorithms have been proposed. The integration of these solutions into future communication systems such as advanced 5G and 6G is crucial to safeguard against quantum threats. Let’s explore how such an integrated network architecture can be envisioned, the impact on various 3GPP (3rdGeneration Partnership Project) procedures that currently use asymmetric cryptography, the transition from hybrid to standalone approaches to replace them, and the key challenges and considerations that must be addressed during this adoption process.
