Abstract

We investigated theoretically the entanglement creation through tunneling rate and fields in a four-level triple quantum dot molecule based on InAs/GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure in both steady state and transient state. We demonstrate that the entanglement entropy among the QDM and its spontaneous emission fields can be controlled by coherent and incoherent pumping field and tunnel-coupled electronics levels. The results may provide some new possibilities for technological applications in solid-state quantum information science, quantum computing, teleportation, encryption, compression codec, and optoelectronics.

Investigate the entanglement of a quintuple quantum dot molecule via entropy

Behnam Arzhang, Mohammad Reza Mehmannavaz, M Rezaei

The time evaluation of quantum entropy in the quintuple-coupled quantum dots based on a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure is theoretically investigated. The quantum entanglement of quantum dot molecules (QDMs) and their spontaneous emission fields is then discussed via quantum entropy. The effects of the tunneling effect, i.e. T , an incoherent pumping field and voltage controllable detuning on entanglement between QDMs and their spontaneous emission fields is then discussed. We found that in the presence of the tunneling effect and an incoherent pumping field the entanglement between the QDMs and their spontaneous emission fields is increased, while in the presence of voltage controllable detuning the entanglement reduced. Finally, we investigated the switching time from a disentangled state to an entangled state. The results may provide some new possibilities for technological applications in optoelectronics, solid-state quantum information science, quantum computing, teleportation, encryption, and compression codec.

Electrical and optical control of optical gain in a coupled triple quantum dot system operating in telecommunication window

Mohammad Reza Mehmannavaz, Hamed Sattari

We investigate the light amplification and gain without inversion (GWI) in triple quantum dot molecules in both steady-state and transient state. We demonstrate that the light amplification and GWI of a light pulse can be controlled through the rates of the incoherent pumping and tunneling between electronic levels. The required switching times for switching of a light pulse from absorption to gain and vice versa is then discussed. We obtain switching time at about 40 ps, which resembles a high-speed optical switch in nanostructure. The proposed approach in QDMs may provide some new possibilities for technological applications in optoelectronics and solid-state quantum information science.

Optically controllable switch for light propagation based on triple coupled quantum dots

Mostafa Sahrai, Mohammad Reza Mehmannavaz, Hamed Sattari

A switch is proposed for controlling the subluminal and superluminal light propagation through the triple coupled quantum dots system. The steady-state and transient behavior of the absorption and the dispersion of a probe pulse through a triple quantum dots molecule are investigated. We demonstrate that the group velocity of a light pulse can be controlled from subluminal to superluminal or vice versa by controlling the rates of incoherent pumping and tunneling between electronic levels. Switching time is calculated by discussing the dependency of optical transient properties on the incoherent pumping and inter-dot tunneling rates. We introduce three controlling parameters that make it possible to control the wave propagation electrically or even optically in such coupled quantum dot systems.

Optically pumping hole spins in coupled quantum dot molecules into a steady state of high concurrence entanglement

Song Yang, Ming Gong, ChuanFeng Li +2 more

We present a way to prepare a high concurrence steady state entanglement of two hole spins in a quantum dot molecule. We show that the spontaneous dissipation can be used to induce and stabilize the entanglement with rapid rate. By optical pumping of trion levels, two-qubit singlet state can be automatically generated. We also show that our proposal can synchronously accomplish both initialization and entanglement generation. The effects of acoustic phonons and electron tunneling are also discussed and we find that the main influence is from deformation potential coupling to acoustic phonons in InAs/GaAs quantum dots. At low temperature, we show that concurrence of entanglement can be greater than 0.95 at $T=1\text{ }\text{K}$.

A quintuple quantum dot system for electrical and optical control of multi/bistability in a telecommunication window

Mohammad Reza Mehmannavaz, Hamed Sattari

We propose a model for a quintuple coupled quantum dot system based on a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure. Then, we analyze the optical bistability (OB) and optical multistability (OM) behaviours and transition between the regimes at a wavelength of We take the benefit of consecutive and parallel interdot tunnelling and an incoherent pumping field for electrical and even optical control of the processes. It is shown that OB, OM and transition between them can be accomplished and controlled by adjusting the rate of the inter-dot tunnellings (electrical bias), probe wavelength detuning and rate of the optical incoherent pumping field. By proper choice of the controlling parameters, the bistable hysteresis loop becomes narrower, which makes it easier for the cavity field to reach saturation. We interpret the OB and OM behaviours by discussing the absorption of the active medium. We also investigate switching time between the two stable states when the output field jumps from a lower branch to an upper branch. Such a controllable OB/OM and transition between them in multiple QD molecules at a wavelength of 1.550 μ m, may provide some new possibilities for technological applications in optoelectronics, solid-state quantum information science and systems dealing with signal processing.

Effect of an incoherent pumping field and tunnelling rate on optically controllable switching for light propagation in a InAs quadruple-coupled quantum dot molecule nanostructure

We propose using a nanostructure with quantum dots to switch light pulses between superluminal and subluminal propagation. Additionally, by adjusting tunneling rates and incoherent pumping field, the speed of light pulses can be controlled with a 5 ps switching time.
