Quantum Information Research Supports Consciousness as Information

Abstract

This paper describes the quantum gravity research that is applicable to the idea that consciousness is primarily an informational system. By understanding quantum states as an information system, the energy/information duality is exposed. The corresponding nature of quantum spacetime supports non-local behaviors. Quantum information laws form a consistency network that creates all fields, particles and even spacetime itself. Even Einstein was wrong about the thinking of quantum mechanics as mere energy mechanics. Correctly labeling phenomena as information vs. energy will lead to clarity about paradoxical aspects of consciousness. This clarity of understanding is essential to support theoretical discussion as well as experimental design and prediction. No new experimental results are reported in this paper.

Quantum Physics Research Supports Consciousness As Information: Exploring the Interplay Between Quantum Physics and Consciousness

Ramcharan Sharma Ramcharan Sharma

The "energy" dominance in physics has madeit difficult to develop widely accepted theories of mind that explainsconsciousness and intention. Recent research in the unification of quantumgravity theories for black holes has proven that information is primary to thestructure of quantum mechanics and therefore introduces an "It fromBit" perspective for the universe that has relevance for consciousness. This understanding of quantum information being more fundamental thanenergy/matter or even space/time, requires the adoption of anenergy/information duality for anything with inaccessible states, such asquantum states and consciousness. The seemingly paradoxical aspects ofconsciousness will become more understandable adopting this energy/informationduality just as early in this century the particle/wave duality was insightfulin understanding physics.

Theory of Nonlocal Unification: The Foundation

Aman Chawla

This study posits that information is a conserved and fundamental quantity underlying the dynamics of quantum systems, classical measurement, and consciousness. Building on the author’s conservation of information principle and the theory of Local Consciousness Instruments (LCIs), we integrate this view with Hardy’s reconstruction of quantum mechanics and reinterpret Einstein’s field equations as emergent expressions of informational geometry. We propose that a global structure, termed Nonlocal Consciousness (NC), unifies quantum theory and spacetime by serving as an informational limit toward which all observers converge. This framework presents a paradigm in which quantum and gravitational phenomena arise from a universal informational field. The theory is falsifiable through probes investigating quantum gravity corrections to canonical commutation relations.

ON THE FEATURES OF THE FUNCTIONING OF CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE CONTEXT OF QUANTUM INFORMATION

V. N. Knyazev, Galina Vasilevna Parshikova

The article deals with the relationship of ideas about the quantum-physical foundations of the functioning of consciousness with quantum computer science. The fundamental question of the nature of consciousness as a unique phenomenon characterized by self-development, adaptive functions, nonlinearity and openness remains debatable. Modern research on the so-called “quantum concept of consciousness” opens up the prospect for subsequent discoveries of new, unsolved patterns. At the junction of quantum mechanics, psychophysics and neurobiology, an interdisciplinary field of knowledge is now being formed and dynamically developing. The comprehension of the methods and formalisms developed within its framework in application to the ontological aspect of the essential nature of consciousness is chosen as the subject of research in this work. The universal laws of quantum mechanics, the concepts of quantum entanglement and the nonlocality of the wave function are important tools for understanding the role of the observer's consciousness at the quantum-molecular level (nanoscale) of consciousness functioning. The article shows that the principles of quantum data processing have a certain superiority over traditional methods of information processing and can become a significant analogue in the development of the quantum concept of consciousness. The characteristic processes of the “work” of consciousness are revealed, which cannot be comprehended without reference to entropic processes and quantum jumps at bifurcation points, entailing stochastic choice, i.e. information generation. The hypothesis of the quantum concept of consciousness is considered in relation to the macroscopic nature of consciousness, its synergetic complexity. The main conclusion is connected with the idea that the modern understanding of consciousness is undergoing many changes due to the widespread introduction of new knowledge in the field of computer science, quantum physics, and neuroscience.

A Pattern-Based Interpretation of Quantum Fields and Spacetime Information

Abhinav gupta Gupta

All known physical systems are described by quantum fields, whose observable properties arise from measurable correlations among their states. In this interpretation, what we call information is not an abstract entity but the physical pattern formed by these correlations. Energy, momentum, and spacetime curvature are already known to be expressible through expectation values of quantum operators, and recent results in quantum information theory show that variations in entanglement correspond directly to variations in energy. From this perspective, macroscopic structures—including matter and spacetime geometry—can be understood as stable, evolving patterns within quantum fields. Apparent non-local correlations, such as quantum entanglement, do not transmit signals faster than light but reflect pre-existing informational structure consistent with relativistic causality. Gravitational effects traditionally attributed to unseen components may, in principle, also be described as consequences of information distribution within known fields, without invoking new particles or interactions. This interpretation does not modify established physical laws or introduce new constants. It remains fully compatible with quantum field theory and general relativity, and is intended as a conceptual framework for organizing existing results rather than a new predictive theory. Its empirical relevance lies in re-expressing known phenomena in terms of information patterns that are, in principle, measurable through correlations and entanglement.

NEWS ON QUANTUM FOUNDATIONS OF CONSCIOUSNESS

Alexander A. Berezin

This note was written by a theoretical physicist currently working on physical aspects of consciousness, mind-matter relationships, and mind-body interactions. My purpose here is to inform the readers of this journal, in not too technical terms, of some recent ideas relating quantum mechanics, gravitation, and psychological phenomena. Attempts to relate the nature of consciousness to quantum mechanics have been known almost from the be+g of quantum mechanics. For an extended discussion and earlier references see, e.g., Stapp (1982). The common thread of the majority of the suggested hypotheses linking consciousness to a quantum level of description is a drawing of a between the spontaneous localization of mental patterns and (spontaneous or induced) reduction of the wave function in quantum mechanics. The latter essentially means that quantum systems are inherently described in probabilistic terms and any external observation reduces the manyfold of all potential possibilia to a single given realization. Interpretation of this process is one of the most difficult and controversial topics of quantum mechanics since in quantum mechanics it is thus far essentially impossible to demarcate unambiguously the observer from the quantum system itself. Despite that gravitational effects are usually deemed to be too weak at atomic level, a few authors recently discussed gravity as an inherent route used by nature to achieve an automatic spontaneous reduction of the wave functions of extended objects. In his recent book, Roger Penrose (1989) looks for the possible connections between consciousness, quantum mechanical reduction and gravitational phenomena. To simplify, the essence of these hypotheses is that subtle gravitational effects at the atomic-molecular level lock the brain into a particular mental state, thereby providing the materialization of the potential (quantum) mental image by the route similar to the reduction of the wave function in quantum mechanics. Isotopic diversity of chemical elements can substantially contribute to this picture, as well as to life processes in general (Berezin, 1988). Since gravity is a mass-sensitive effect, the fact that different stable isotopes of the same element (e.g., carbon, oxygen, nitrogen) have different atomic masses may affect the path of mental processing.

String Theory and Quantum Information Nonlinear Correlation

Jincheng Zhang

This paper investigates the potential interplay between string theory and quantum information theory, exploring how the inherent quantum properties of strings might influence the fundamental laws governing quantum information. We propose a novel model, the "String Quantum Information" framework, which connects string's quantum behavior directly to the principles of quantum information. The core of this research lies in analyzing string quantum properties to uncover underlying patterns within quantum information. This investigation aims to deepen our understanding of the relationship between these two fundamental branches of physics, potentially leading to new insights into the nature of information and its manipulation. Core Claim The core assertion of this paper is that the quantum nature of strings, particularly their inherent non-linearity, possesses a profound influence on the structure and evolution of quantum information. Specifically, we hypothesize that the subtle yet critical quantum properties of strings – such as entanglement and superposition – can act as a fundamental driver in the formation of quantum information, thereby shaping the laws governing quantum computation. The study will analyze the interplay between these quantum properties and the inherent limitations and potential of quantum information to explore potential connections and divergences. Core Mechanism We propose a "String Quantum Information" model, a conceptual framework that integrates string theory with quantum information theory. This model posits that string's quantum properties, especially its inherent non-linearity, are not merely a background phenomenon but an active contributor to the dynamics of quantum information. Instead of viewing quantum information as a purely deterministic process, we suggest that the very fabric of strings – through their quantum characteristics – can introduce a non-linearity that is essential for the creation and manipulation of information. The model will involve developing a mathematical framework that describes how string dynamics, specifically its quantum properties, can translate into patterns within the structure of quantum information. The model will be built to test predictions and to provide a framework for understanding the dynamics of quantum information that is not fully captured by traditional models. Why It Is New Traditional approaches to quantum information often treat quantum computation as a distinct field, largely separate from string theory. While string theory offers a potential pathway to quantum gravity, it lacks a direct, intuitive connection to the fundamental laws governing information. This paper tackles this gap by proposing a dynamic interplay between string theory and quantum information, aiming to reveal a deeper, more holistic understanding of the relationship between these two disciplines. The model we propose – the "String Quantum Information" framework – is novel because it explicitly links the fundamental quantum properties of strings to the very essence of quantum information – specifically, the inherent non-linearity. Existing research often focuses on specific aspects of quantum information without considering the potential influence of string theory's quantum properties. This paper's aim is to provide a conceptual bridge between these two fields, moving beyond a purely theoretical perspective to explore potential practical implications and to develop a more robust mathematical model. Discussion of the Model: A Deep Dive into String Quantum Properties The "String Quantum Information" model centers around a carefully selected set of string properties that we believe are critical to the formation of quantum information. These properties are not simply descriptive; they are inherently linked to the behavior of quantum information. We begin with the concept of entanglement, and how entanglement can influence the evolution of quantum information. Entanglement creates correlations between different parts of a quantum system, and this is a key aspect of quantum information. We hypothesize that the inherent entanglement of strings, through their quantum properties, could be a foundational element in the creation of quantum information. Specifically, we will investigate the role of quantum fluctuations within the string landscape. These fluctuations, driven by the underlying quantum nature of the strings, are expected to subtly alter the quantum state of the system, leading to the emergence of patterns that are essential for quantum information processing. We hypothesize that these fluctuations, driven by the string's quantum properties, can lead to non-linearities which are fundamental to the creation of complex quantum information. The model will incorporate a stochastic element, where the string's quantum properties are not precisely defined but rather subject to probabilistic changes, further increasing the complexity and non-linearity of the system.
