Abstract

We clarify the original thought for the scheme in our recent paper (Phys. Rev. A, 77, 042317), for preparing arbitrary four‐qubit decoherence‐free states robust against collective decoherence. Our method needs two singlet states and a tunable partial exchanging device.

Generation of arbitrary four-photon polarization-entangled decoherence-free states

We propose a scheme to generate four-photon polarization-entangled states, which enables the encoding of an arbitrary qubit into a four-qubit decoherence-free subspace robust against collective decoherence. The scheme is based on linear optical elements and postselection strategy, which is feasible with existing experimental technology.

Generation of arbitrary four-atom entangled decoherence-free states

Xin Ji, 吕天全, Zhang Shou

This paper proposes a scheme to generate arbitrary four-atom entangled decoherence-free states by using simple linear optical elements, four one-sided cavities in which four atoms are confined respectively. By conveniently tuning the titled angle of one half-wave plate, it can obtain arbitrary four-atom entangled decoherence-free states with a successful probability of 1 as long as there is no photon loss.

Preparation of three- and four-qubit decoherence-free states via Zeno-like measurements

Xiao‐Qiang Shao, Li Chen, Shou Zhang +2 more

Enlightened by the idea of purification through Zeno-like measurements (Nakazato et al 2003 Phys. Rev. Lett. 90 060401), we propose a scheme for generating three- and four-qubit decoherence-free states with respect to collective amplitude damping. The whole system is in a star configuration of a spin network and the outer spin qubits construct the decoherence-free state via measuring the state of central spin qubit at intervals of τ repeatedly. An interesting feature is found: namely, that in order to prepare the three-qubit decoherence-free state successfully, the value of τ for the projected time-evolution operator must be set definitely, while this restrictive condition is relaxed for achieving the four-qubit decoherence-free state. The simulation results reveal that the fidelity approaches one asymptotically, and the corresponding success probability reaches a stable value by increasing the number of measurements N.

Protecting quantum information encoded in decoherence-free states against exchange errors

Daniel A. Lidar, David F. Bacon, Julia Kempe +1 more

The exchange interaction between identical qubits in a quantum-information processor gives rise to unitary two-qubit errors. It is shown here that decoherence-free subspaces (DFSs) for collective decoherence undergo Pauli errors under exchange, which, however, do not take the decoherence-free states outside of the DFS. In order to protect DFSs against these errors it is sufficient to employ a recently proposed concatenated DFS quantum-error-correcting code scheme [D. A. Lidar, D. Bacon, and K.B. Whaley, Phys. Rev. Lett. 82, 4556 (1999)].
