VARIATIONAL STUDY ON CORRELATED-SQUEEZED GROUND STATE OF QUANTUM TUNNELING SYSTEM INTERACTING WITH TWO PHONONS

GAO YANG, Yumei Zhang, 同济大学物理系,上海 200092

The variational approach is applied to the study of the ground state of quantum tunneling system interacting with two phonons by use of a correlated-squeezed transformation. We fine: 1) For the two phonons bath, the ground state energy of the phonons with correlation effect is lower than that without correlation effect; 2) The effect of correlation varies with the mode parameters: In the resonant regime of the phonons and two-state system, the correlation effect is more significant and will be strengthened together with the increase of coupling coefficient.

COMPARATIVE TEST OF TWO METHODS OF QUANTUM EFFICIENCY ABSOLUTE MEASUREMENT BASED ON SQUEEZED VACUUM DIRECT DETECTION

I. N. Agafonov, Maria V. Chekhova, Alexander N. Penin +3 more

We realize and test in experiment a method recently proposed for measuring absolute quantum efficiency of analog photodetectors. Similar to the traditional (Klyshko) method of absolute calibration, the new one is based on the direct detection of two-mode squeezed vacuum at the output of a traveling wave OPA. However, in the new method, one measures the difference-photocurrent variance rather than the correlation function of photocurrents (number of coincidences), which makes the technique applicable for high-gain OPA. In this work we test the new method versus the traditional one for the case of photon-counting detectors where both techniques are valid.

UNIFIED TREATMENT OF HETERODYNE DETECTION: THE SHAPIRO–WAGNER AND CAVES FRAMEWORKS

GIULIO LANDOLFI, GIOVANNA RUGGERI, GIULIO SOLIANI

A comparative study is performed on two heterodyne systems of photon detectors expressed in terms of a signal annihilation operator and an image band creation operator called Shapiro–Wagner and Caves' frame, respectively. This approach is based on the introduction of a convenient operator [Formula: see text] which allows a unified formulation of both cases. For the Shapiro–Wagner scheme, where [Formula: see text], quantum phase and amplitude are exactly defined in the context of relative number state (RNS) representation, while a procedure is devised to handle suitably and in a consistent way Caves' framework, characterized by [Formula: see text], within the approximate simultaneous measurements of noncommuting variables. In such a case RNS phase and amplitude make sense only approximately.
