Squeezed Phonon Lasing via Floquet-Controlled Solid-State Defects

Hugo Molinares, Gianluca Rastelli, Victor Montenegro +1 more

We propose a general Floquet-engineered scheme for squeezed phonon lasing that enables a continuous crossover from conventional phase-diffused phonon lasing to phase-locked squeezed phonon lasing. Our system consists of two pairs of periodically driven spins--a primary pair and an ancilla pair--coupled to a single mechanical mode. While the underlying mechanism applies generally to such spin-mechanical systems, we focus on a solid-state implementation based on color centers embedded in a circular hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) membrane. We show that the primary spins provide mechanical gain, whereas the ancilla pair engineer a dissipative channel for the Bogoliubov mode, thereby stabilizing robust steady-state squeezed phonon lasing. We support these findings through a comprehensive steady-state analysis of the lasing threshold, mechanical occupation, emission spectrum, and second-order correlations. Remarkably, we demonstrate that Floquet engineering intrinsically induces phase locking while enabling controllable quadrature squeezing, providing a simple and versatile route toward squeezed lasing in solid-state spin-mechanical platforms.

Kerr-Filtered Hybrid States from Double-Squeezed Tripartite Interactions

Jing Tang, Yuangang Deng

Multipartite interactions provide a unique route to generate hybrid quantum states, yet their intrinsically weak nonlinear coupling limits the controllable manipulation of the resulting correlations. Here we show that cooperative double squeezing and cavity Kerr nonlinearity together enable controllable engineering of Kerr-filtered hybrid states in a tripartite spin-photon-phonon system. Double squeezing exponentially enhances the spin-mediated photon-phonon pair-generation channel, whereas the Kerr interaction selectively reshapes the photonic component while maintaining the underlying tripartite conversion process. This mechanism reconstructs the composition of the hybrid excitation and gives rise to a fourfold phase-space manifold associated with spontaneous $Z_{2}^{(a)}\times Z_{2}^{(b)}$ parity breaking. Our results reveal a strategy for engineering hybrid quantum states by combining interaction amplification with mode-selective nonlinear filtering.

Steady-state spin squeezing generation in diamond nanostructures

Yonghong Ma, Xuefeng Zhang

As one kind of many body entangled states, spin squeezed states can be used to implement the high precise measurement beyond the standard quantum limit. Inspired by the novel spin squeezing scheme based on phonon-induced spin-spin interactions [S. D. Bennett et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 110, 156402 (2013)], we reexamine the steady-state behaviors for the spin ensemble in diamond nanostructures by exerting a controllable microwave field. By using the phase-space approach we calculate analytically fluctuations of collective spin operators. We find that there is bistability and spin squeezing for the steady-state spin ensemble, despite the mechanical damping considered. Moreover, our work shows that bistability and spin squeezing can be controlled by microwave field and Zeeman splitting. The present scheme can be used to increase the stability of spin clocks, magnetometers, and other measurements based on spin-spin interaction in diamond nanostructures.
