Abstract

We investigate the emission spectra of a ?-type three-level atom interacting with a single-mode optical field in an ideal cavity filled with a Kerr medium and discuss the structure of emission spectrum when the optical field is initially in a pure number state and a coherent state, respectively. It is shown that the structure of emission spectrum depends not only on the photon number distribution, but also on the strength of incident field and the coupling of Kerr medium to the field.

Emission Spectra of a Two-level Atom in a Kerr-like Medium

Vladimír Bužek, Igor Jex

We have investigated the spectrum of light emitted by a single atom interacting with a single mode of the radiation field in an ideal cavity filled with a Kerr-like medium. It is shown that owing to the Kerr-like nonlinearity in the system the spectrum of the emitted light exhibits a single-peaked structure for sufficiently high intensities of the initial coherent field instead of the triplet structure in the case of the standard Jaynes-Cummings model.

Cavity Field Spectra of a Cascade Three-Level Atom Interacting with a Single-Mode Field with Kerr-Like Medium

Gao Yun-feng, Jian Feng, Zhang Gui-Ming

The cavity field spectrum of a cascade three-level atom interacting with single-mode field with Kerr-like medium in the cavity is investigated. The numerical results for the initial field in pure number state, coherent state and squeezed vacuum state are calculated, respectively. It is found that the Kerr-like medium affects the spectral structure even though the initial field is in vacuum when the atom is in upper level. In the case of strong input field, the number state spectrum shows two peaks with different heights; and the superposition state spectrum shows a multi-peak structure with an equal distance of two neighboring peaks. The spectral ``central frequency" shifts away from the resonant frequency with the increasing of average photon number.

Emission spectrum of two atoms interacting with light field in the kerr medium

Feng Jian

The emission spectra of two coupling atoms in a high Q cavity with an additional Kerr medium are investigated. The results for the initial fields in pure number states or coherent states are presented. The effects of Kerr medium on the emission spectra are analyzed. When the inject field is in a coherent state with large average photon number n , single high peak at center and two multi-peak sidebands like comb spectrum appear. The peak-number of the sidebands increases along with accretion of n . The peak-space increases along with accretion of Kerr effect. The two sidebands will leave away due to the increase of the average photon number or the Kerr effect.

Cavity Field Spectra for the Interaction System of a Ξ-type Three-level Atom with Single-model Field

Shao Zhang

The cavity spectra for the interaction system of a Ξtype threelevel atom with singlemodel field were investigated when the field is initially in a pure number state,a conherent state and a squeezed vacuum state. It is shown that there appear symmetric eight peaks in the cavity spectra, whose structure depends strongly on the photon number distribution and intensity of initial light field.

Emission and cavity-field spectra in a cascade three-level system interacting with a single-mode field

Qingchun Zhou, Shining N. Zhu, Nai-Ben Ming

By using the method of eigenvalues and eigenstates, the emission and cavity-field spectra of a cascade three-level atom interacting with a single-mode electromagnetic field are studied in both intensity-dependent coupling (IDC) and intensity-independent coupling (IIC) cases. The photon statistics of the field on the spectra are investigated for the initial field in the pure number state, the coherent state and the thermal state. In the resonant case and the strong field limit, the pure-number-state emission spectrum exhibits six peaks and three peaks, respectively, for the IDC case and the IIC case. For a strong initial coherent state field or a strong thermal state field, the central structure of the emission spectrum at the field frequency is a doublet in the IDC case and a singlet in the IIC case. The cavity-field spectrum has three peaks in the IDC case and a single peak in the IIC case in the strong field limit for all of the three kinds of initial fields considered. Results indicate that in the emission spectrum merging of spectral peaks occurs for the IIC case as the initial field becomes stronger while it does not happen for the IDC case.
