Abstract

The cavity spectra for the interaction system of a Ξtype threelevel atom with singlemodel field were investigated when the field is initially in a pure number state,a conherent state and a squeezed vacuum state. It is shown that there appear symmetric eight peaks in the cavity spectra, whose structure depends strongly on the photon number distribution and intensity of initial light field.

Cavity Field Spectra of a Cascade Three-Level Atom Interacting with a Single-Mode Field with Kerr-Like Medium

Gao Yun-feng, Jian Feng, Zhang Gui-Ming

The cavity field spectrum of a cascade three-level atom interacting with single-mode field with Kerr-like medium in the cavity is investigated. The numerical results for the initial field in pure number state, coherent state and squeezed vacuum state are calculated, respectively. It is found that the Kerr-like medium affects the spectral structure even though the initial field is in vacuum when the atom is in upper level. In the case of strong input field, the number state spectrum shows two peaks with different heights; and the superposition state spectrum shows a multi-peak structure with an equal distance of two neighboring peaks. The spectral ``central frequency" shifts away from the resonant frequency with the increasing of average photon number.

Emission and absorption spectra of a general formalism Ξ-type three-level atom driven by a single-mode field with nonlinearities

A.‐S. F. Obada, A. A. Eied, G. M. Abd Al-Kader

We study the interaction of a three-level atom with a single-mode field in a cavity. We take explicitly into account the existence of the forms of nonlinearities of both the field and the intensity-dependent atom-field coupling. The wavefunction for the atomic system of the Ξ configuration is obtained when the atom is initially prepared in the excited state. The electromagnetic field may assume a squeezed coherent or binomial state. The analytical forms of the fluorescence and absorption spectra are calculated using the dressed states of the system. We investigate the influences of the mean number of photons, detunings, and the nonlinearities forms on the spectrum of the resulting field states. It is shown that the features of the fluorescence and absorption spectra are influenced significantly by the kinds of nonlinearities.

Emission spectra of a [I]-type three-level atom in a Kerr medium

张少武, Shihua Chen, 是度芳

We investigate the emission spectra of a [I]-type three-level atom interacting with a single-mode optical field in an ideal cavity filled with a Kerr medium and discuss the structure of emission spectrum when the optical field is initially in a pure number state and a coherent state, respectively. It is shown that the structure of emission spectrum depends not only on the photon number distribution, but also on the strength of incident field and the coupling of Kerr medium to the field.

Emission and cavity-field spectra in a cascade three-level system interacting with a single-mode field

Qingchun Zhou, Shining N. Zhu, Nai-Ben Ming

By using the method of eigenvalues and eigenstates, the emission and cavity-field spectra of a cascade three-level atom interacting with a single-mode electromagnetic field are studied in both intensity-dependent coupling (IDC) and intensity-independent coupling (IIC) cases. The photon statistics of the field on the spectra are investigated for the initial field in the pure number state, the coherent state and the thermal state. In the resonant case and the strong field limit, the pure-number-state emission spectrum exhibits six peaks and three peaks, respectively, for the IDC case and the IIC case. For a strong initial coherent state field or a strong thermal state field, the central structure of the emission spectrum at the field frequency is a doublet in the IDC case and a singlet in the IIC case. The cavity-field spectrum has three peaks in the IDC case and a single peak in the IIC case in the strong field limit for all of the three kinds of initial fields considered. Results indicate that in the emission spectrum merging of spectral peaks occurs for the IIC case as the initial field becomes stronger while it does not happen for the IDC case.

Cavity field spectrum of a pair of coupled atoms Javnes-Cummings model

Gao Yun-feng

The cavity field spectrum of a pair of coupled two-level atoms interacting with single mode field is studied. The results for the initial fields in pure number state, coherent state or squeezed vacuum state are presented and discussed. The effect of dipole-dipole coupling constant gαp on the cavity field spectrum is analyzed. It is found that four Rabi peaks appear for small gαp and three Rabi peaks for large gα when the field is vacuum initially. When the field is pure number state initially, the structure of the cavity field spectrum is five peaks for weak field and three peaks for strong field. When the fields are in a coherent state or squeezed vacuum state, a multi-peak structure appears generally. The peak-position and peak-height of the spectrum are both influenced by gα, but this influence is evident for weak field only.
