Abstract

We theoretically investigate the emission spectrum for a Λ-type three-level atom trapped in the node of a standing wave. We show that the atomic center-of-mass motion not only directly affects the peak number, peak position, and peak height in the atomic emission spectrum, but also influences the effects of the cavity field and the atomic initial state on atomic emission spectrum.

The effect of mass center motion on a two-level atom emission spectrum

The emission spectrum of a two-level atom in a harmonic trap is studied. It is shown that atomic motion do not affect the atomic spectrum phase sensitivity when there is no correlation between atomic mass center motion and the field. With the increase of the average energy of atomic center motion, the peaks move towards each other, their heights change with the state of the field and atomic motion. When there is correlation between atomic mass center motion and the field, the atomic spectrum becomes insensitive to the relative phase between the field and the atomic dipole. Under certain conditions, there are fewer peaks, and they become higher and narrower.

Atomic Emission and Cavity Field Spectra in the Λ-type Three-level Jaynes-Cummings Model with Intensity-dependent Coupling

Qingchun Zhou

The eigenfunction method is adopted to investigate atomic emission and cavity field spectra in the system containing a Λ-type three-level atom resonantly' interacting with a single-mode field. The atom is assumed initially in the upper atomic state and intensity-dependent coupling is taken into account. It is found that the splitting between the lower levels has a great influence on the spectral structure for both the emission spectrum and the cavity field spectrum.Combination of spectral lines does not take place with increasing intensity of the initial field and the cavity spectrum is not sensitive to the statistics of the initial field.

Emission spectrum of a Λ-type three-level atom driven by the squeezed coherent field and grey-body radiation field

Guo Hong, PENG JIN-SHENG

By means of quantum electrodynamics, an analytical expression of emission spectrum for a Λ-type three-level atom with the two non-degenerate lower levels in the cavity is given. The character of the emission spectrum for the input in pure number state, a squeezed coherent state and grey-body state are exhibited. The effects of the atomic initial state, the field property, the cavity absorptivity and the system temperature on the time-dependent physical spectrum are analysed.

Spontaneous emission in a standing-wave cavity: Classical center-of-mass motion

W. Ren, James D. Cresser, H. J. Carmichael

We present a nonperturbative result for the spectrum of spontaneous photons emitted by an atom coupled on resonance to a standing-wave cavity mode. Motion of the atom through the standing-wave mode function is included in a classical way. We discuss the form of the spectrum as a function of the velocity of the atom in the limit of strong dipole coupling. For slow atoms the normal-mode doublet (``vacuum'' Rabi spectrum) survives with small changes. The motion of a fast atom through the standing wave averages the coupling constant to zero, and the spectrum reverts to a single peak. At intermediate velocities the spectrum has a complicated multipeaked structure that can be understood in terms of interfering probability amplitudes for different quantum-mechanical emission paths or as a frequency-modulation spectrum for radiating coupled oscillators.

The influence of mass center motion on -type three-level atom dynamics

Hu Xiao-Ping, Guo Hong, 华中师范大学物理科学与技术学院,武汉 430079

The system of a single-mode field interacting with a -type three-level atom in a harmonic trap is investigated. The linear entropy of the field, the atomic internal states and the atomic mass center motion are explored. It is shown that the atomic mass center motion not only can affect the linear entropy of the field and the atomic internal states, but also effectively changes their relationship.
