Abstract

Abstract Holonomic quantum computing offers a promising paradigm for quantum computation due to its error resistance and the ability to perform universal quantum computations. Here, we propose a scheme for the rapid implementation of a holonomic swap gate in neutral atomic systems, based on the selective Rydberg pumping mechanism. By employing time-dependent soft control, we effectively mitigate the impact of off-resonant terms even at higher driving intensities compared to time-independent driving. This approach accelerates the synthesis of logic gates and passively reduces the decoherence effects. Furthermore, by introducing an additional atom and applying the appropriate driving field, our scheme can be directly extended to implement a three-qubit controlled-swap gate. This advancement makes it a valuable tool for quantum state preparation, quantum switches, and a variational quantum algorithm in neutral atom systems.

One-Step Implementation of Time-Optimal-Control Three-Qubit Nonadiabatic Holonomic Controlled Gates in Rydberg Atoms

Li-Na Sun, L.-L. Yan, Shi‐Lei Su +1 more

We propose a one-step scheme to implement the time-optimal nonadiabatic holonomic three-qubit controlled gates in Rydberg atoms by modulating Rabi frequencies of driving fields on the target atom. We perform the time-optimal operations following the brachistochrone curve, after which the scheme manifests completely different characteristics in contrast to the conventional nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation (NHQC) that all operations require exactly the same evolution time, even for small angular rotations. Since the present three-qubit controlled-gate scheme significantly reduces the evolution time, the influence of decoherence can be greatly reduced. On the other hand, the robustness on the systematic error can also be guaranteed by the feature of geometric phase. The simulation through master equation verifies the high fidelity and robustness of our scheme. Although we use the Rydberg-atom system to verify the feasibility of our scheme, any quantum platforms capable of achieving the same form of effective Hamiltonian is feasible, which means the proposed three-qubit time-optimal-control nonadiabatic holonomic gates is independent of the particular physical platform and may have the potential for wider application.

Effective nonadiabatic holonomic swap gate with Rydberg atoms using invariant-based reverse engineering

Yang Xiao, Yi‐Hao Kang, Ri‐Hua Zheng +3 more

In this paper, we propose a one-step scheme for implementing the nonadiabatic holonomic swap gate with Rydberg atoms. By applying invariant-based reverse engineering to design the effective Hamiltonian of the system, a suitable evolution path for implementing nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation is found. In addition, the systematic-error-sensitivity nullified optimal control method is considered in the parameter selections, so that the scheme is insensitive to the systematic error of pulses. We also estimate the effects of random noise, the random initial phase of the pulses, the Doppler shift, and decoherence on the scheme. The numerical results show that the scheme exhibits fairly good performance against these negative factors. Finally, we generalize the scheme to realize the non-Clifford swap gates. Therefore, this scheme can provide a feasible framework for implementing high-fidelity and robust swap gates and non-Clifford swap gates with Rydberg atoms.

One-step implementation of Toffoli gate for neutral atoms based on unconventional Rydberg pumping

Hong-Da Yin, Xiaoxuan Li, Gangcheng Wang +1 more

Compared with the idea of universal quantum computation, a direct synthesis of a multiqubit logic gate can greatly improve the efficiency of quantum information processing tasks. Here we propose an efficient scheme to implement a three-qubit controlled-not (Toffoli) gate of neutral atoms based on unconventional Rydberg pumping. By adjusting the strengths of Rabi frequencies of driving fields, the Toffoli gate can be achieved within one step, which is also insensitive to the fluctuation of the Rydberg-Rydberg interaction. Considering different atom alignments, we can obtain a high-fidelity Toffoli gate at the same operation time ∼7 μs. In addition, our scheme can be further extended to the four-qubit case without altering the operating time.

Nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation in decoherence-free subspaces on Rydberg atoms

Ya Gao, Meng-Le Guo, Pei-Yao Song +4 more

Abstract We propose a scheme for realizing nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation within a decoherence-free subspace using Rydberg atoms. By employing large-detuned lasers and the Rydberg antiblockade condition, we construct an effective Hamiltonian that couples logical states in a three-atom decoherence-free subspace while ensuring that the Rydberg states remain unpopulated. This approach significantly suppresses decoherence caused by atomic spontaneous emission and mitigates the mechanical effects and sensitivity to interatomic distance variations associated with Rydberg excitations. We demonstrate the realization of both conventional and single-loop single-logical-qubit holonomic gates with high fidelity. Furthermore, by utilizing an asymmetric encoding method, in which the control logical qubits employ Rydberg-state encoding to provide the required conditional blockade, we extend the scheme to construct universal two- and three-logical-qubit holonomic gates, offering a robust and scalable approach for quantum information processing.

Soft-controlled quantum gate with enhanced robustness and undegraded dynamics in Rydberg atoms

Qiaolin Wu, Jun Xing, Hong-Da Yin

Abstract Rydberg atoms have exhibited excellent potentials to become a competent platform of implementing quantum computation, which demands to execute various quantum gates fast and faithfully. We propose a dynamic mechanism of two interacting Rydberg atoms for implementing a high-fidelity SWAP gate on ground-state manifolds, where the amplitude modulation and soft quantum control of lasers driving ground-Rydberg state transitions are elaborately matched with the interaction strength between atoms so as to engineer the desired transformation of atomic states. Compared with the recent Rydberg-atom SWAP gate scheme, the present one possesses the undegraded first-order dynamics and shows an interference-induced suppression of the doubly-excited Rydberg state, so it costs shorter gate time and exhibits greater robustness against atomic decay and deviations in the interatomic separation (interaction strengths). The present mechanism of implementing a SWAP gate on interacting Rydberg atoms could facilitate high-fidelity demonstrations of atomic ground state transformation and further exploitation of peculiar dynamics.

One‐Step Implementation of Time‐Optimal Three‐Qubit Nonadiabatic Holonomic Gates via Dipole–Dipole Interaction in Rydberg Atoms

Shuai Liu, Han Yang, Jia‐Xi Qin +3 more

Abstract In this study, a one‐step scheme is proposed to implement time‐optimal three‐qubit nonadiabatic holonomic gates using unconventional Rydberg pumping mechanism. The system dynamics of three Rydberg atoms are investigated in the regime of dipole–dipole interaction, which may provide relatively strong interaction strengths. By analyzing the system dynamics of three atoms, an effective three‐level interaction Hamiltonian is derived. Based on this, a three‐qubit nonadiabatic holonomic gate can be implemented in one step by modulating Rabi frequencies of control pulses on the target atom. The scheme is further optimized using time‐optimal control technology based on quantum‐brachistochrone formalism, which minimizes the evolution time of the system and mitigates the influence from the environmental decoherence. Numerical simulations results show that the scheme is robust against the Doppler dephasing error, system parameter variations, and atomic spontaneous emissions. Therefore, it is hoped that the scheme may facilitate the realization of fault‐tolerant quantum computation in Rydberg atoms.
