Abstract

Abstract In this study, a one‐step scheme is proposed to implement time‐optimal three‐qubit nonadiabatic holonomic gates using unconventional Rydberg pumping mechanism. The system dynamics of three Rydberg atoms are investigated in the regime of dipole–dipole interaction, which may provide relatively strong interaction strengths. By analyzing the system dynamics of three atoms, an effective three‐level interaction Hamiltonian is derived. Based on this, a three‐qubit nonadiabatic holonomic gate can be implemented in one step by modulating Rabi frequencies of control pulses on the target atom. The scheme is further optimized using time‐optimal control technology based on quantum‐brachistochrone formalism, which minimizes the evolution time of the system and mitigates the influence from the environmental decoherence. Numerical simulations results show that the scheme is robust against the Doppler dephasing error, system parameter variations, and atomic spontaneous emissions. Therefore, it is hoped that the scheme may facilitate the realization of fault‐tolerant quantum computation in Rydberg atoms.

One-Step Implementation of Time-Optimal-Control Three-Qubit Nonadiabatic Holonomic Controlled Gates in Rydberg Atoms

Li-Na Sun, L.-L. Yan, Shi‐Lei Su +1 more

We propose a one-step scheme to implement the time-optimal nonadiabatic holonomic three-qubit controlled gates in Rydberg atoms by modulating Rabi frequencies of driving fields on the target atom. We perform the time-optimal operations following the brachistochrone curve, after which the scheme manifests completely different characteristics in contrast to the conventional nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation (NHQC) that all operations require exactly the same evolution time, even for small angular rotations. Since the present three-qubit controlled-gate scheme significantly reduces the evolution time, the influence of decoherence can be greatly reduced. On the other hand, the robustness on the systematic error can also be guaranteed by the feature of geometric phase. The simulation through master equation verifies the high fidelity and robustness of our scheme. Although we use the Rydberg-atom system to verify the feasibility of our scheme, any quantum platforms capable of achieving the same form of effective Hamiltonian is feasible, which means the proposed three-qubit time-optimal-control nonadiabatic holonomic gates is independent of the particular physical platform and may have the potential for wider application.

Time-optimal holonomic quantum gates on Rydberg atoms

Abstract Nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation (NHQC) has attracted significant interest due to its intrinsic robustness against local parameter fluctuations. However, conventional NHQC schemes are constrained by long evolution times, with all gate operations requiring the same duration regardless of the rotation angle, leading to increased susceptibility to decoherence. In this paper, we propose a time-optima NHQC (TONHQC) scheme in the Rydberg atomic system, which minimizes gate operation time while maintaining geometric robustness. By solving the quantum brachistochrone equation (QBE), we derive an optimal trajectory for state evolution. We demonstrate the feasibility of TONHQC using87Rb atoms by constructing high-fidelity geometric two-qubit gates. Numerical simulations for controlled-Hadamard (C-H), controlled-π/4 (C-S) and controlled-π/8 (C-T) gates confirm that TONHQC outperforms conventional NHQC protocols, achieving higher fidelity and enhanced resilience against spontaneous emission and Rabi frequency fluctuations. These findings suggest that TONHQC as a promising approach for realizing high-fidelity holonomic quantum gates in Rydberg atom systems, paving the way for scalable and fault-tolerant quantum computation.

Nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation in decoherence-free subspaces on Rydberg atoms

Ya Gao, Meng-Le Guo, Pei-Yao Song +4 more

Abstract We propose a scheme for realizing nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation within a decoherence-free subspace using Rydberg atoms. By employing large-detuned lasers and the Rydberg antiblockade condition, we construct an effective Hamiltonian that couples logical states in a three-atom decoherence-free subspace while ensuring that the Rydberg states remain unpopulated. This approach significantly suppresses decoherence caused by atomic spontaneous emission and mitigates the mechanical effects and sensitivity to interatomic distance variations associated with Rydberg excitations. We demonstrate the realization of both conventional and single-loop single-logical-qubit holonomic gates with high fidelity. Furthermore, by utilizing an asymmetric encoding method, in which the control logical qubits employ Rydberg-state encoding to provide the required conditional blockade, we extend the scheme to construct universal two- and three-logical-qubit holonomic gates, offering a robust and scalable approach for quantum information processing.

Fast realization of high-fidelity nonadiabatic holonomic quantum gates with a time-optimal-control technique in Rydberg atoms

Pengtao Song, J.-F. Wei, Peng Xu +4 more

The nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation (NHQC) has received great attention for decades, however, there are many challenges to its implementation in experiments. To further shorten the evolution time is the first challenge to be conquered to realize high-fidelity quantum gates in NHQC. In this paper, we propose a controlled two-qubit model in Rydberg atoms to realize nonadiabatic holonomic quantum gates, where the evolution time is extremely decreased and the influences of several kinds of noises are minimized by utilizing the time-optimal-control technique on the target atom. In addition, we can construct arbitrary geometric gates by selecting the appropriate parameters in our model. Furthermore, numerical simulations for the $\mathrm{C}\ensuremath{-}T$ gate and $\mathrm{C}\ensuremath{-}\sqrt{H}$ gate based on the master equation show that the fidelities of geometric gates obtained in our model are still very high even though noises are considered, which demonstrates the robustness of our protocol. It is worth noting that the controlled two-qubit model may pave the way to realize fault-tolerant quantum computation in the future.

Effective nonadiabatic holonomic swap gate with Rydberg atoms using invariant-based reverse engineering

Yang Xiao, Yi‐Hao Kang, Ri‐Hua Zheng +3 more

In this paper, we propose a one-step scheme for implementing the nonadiabatic holonomic swap gate with Rydberg atoms. By applying invariant-based reverse engineering to design the effective Hamiltonian of the system, a suitable evolution path for implementing nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation is found. In addition, the systematic-error-sensitivity nullified optimal control method is considered in the parameter selections, so that the scheme is insensitive to the systematic error of pulses. We also estimate the effects of random noise, the random initial phase of the pulses, the Doppler shift, and decoherence on the scheme. The numerical results show that the scheme exhibits fairly good performance against these negative factors. Finally, we generalize the scheme to realize the non-Clifford swap gates. Therefore, this scheme can provide a feasible framework for implementing high-fidelity and robust swap gates and non-Clifford swap gates with Rydberg atoms.

Realization of nonadiabatic holonomic multiqubit controlled gates with Rydberg atoms

Tonghao Xing, P. Z. Zhao, D. M. Tong

Nonadiabatic holonomic gates provide an effective means to perform high-speed and error-resilient manipulation of quantum states. It is practically important to realize nonadiabatic holonomic multiqubit controlled gates since multiqubit controlled gates are widely used in quantum information processing. Rydberg atoms are an appealing physical system for the realization of nonadiabatic holonomic multiqubit controlled gates as the Rydberg-mediated interaction is beneficial to couple two qubits. In this paper, we put forward a scheme for the realization of nonadiabatic holonomic multiqubit controlled gates based on Rydberg atoms, where an $(n+1)$-qubit controlled-$(\mathrm{n}\ifmmode\cdot\else\textperiodcentered\fi{}\mathbf{\ensuremath{\sigma}})$ gate can be realized by $(2n\ensuremath{-}1)$ basic operations. Moreover, the effective coupling between two qubits is in the first-order strength of Rabi frequencies, which allows for the implementation of quantum gates within a short duration.
