Abstract

Abstract A theoretical proposal for the complete analysis of high-dimensional Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state is presented in this Letter. We first demonstrate the approach for the complete three-photon GHZ state measurement in three dimensions, and then generalize it to the situation of N-photon system in d dimensions. In our approach, the photonic hyperentanglement and quantum Fourier transform are both utilized. The presented proposal will be useful for the high-dimensional multi-photon quantum computation and quantum communication.

Complete hyperentangled state analysis using high-dimensional entanglement

Zhi Zeng

In this paper, we present a novel method for the complete analysis of maximally hyperentangled state of photon system in two degrees of freedom (DOFs), resorting to the auxiliary high-dimensional entanglement in the third DOF. This method not only can be used for complete hyperentangled Bell state analysis of two-photon system, but also can be suitable for complete hyperentangled Greenberger−Horne−Zeilinger (GHZ) state analysis of three-photon system, and can be extended to the complete N-photon hyperentangled GHZ state analysis. In our approach, the parity information of hyperentanglement is determined via the measurement on evolved auxiliary high-dimensional entanglement, and the relative phase information of hyperentanglement is determined via the projective measurement. Moreover, this approach can be accomplished by just using linear optics, and is significant for the investigation of photonic hyperentangled state analysis.

Complete and deterministic analysis for spatial-polarization hyperentangled Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states with quantum-dot cavity systems

Qian Liu, Mei Zhang

Entangled state analysis is one of the basic techniques in quantum information processing. However, it is impossible to fully distinguish the three-photon Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states with only linear optical elements. Here, we propose a deterministic scheme to complete three-photon spatial-polarization hyperentangled GHZ-state analysis (HGSA) by using the giant optical Faraday rotation induced by an excess electron spin in a quantum dot inside a one-sided optical microcavity as a result of cavity quantum electrodynamics. It is divided into two steps. The first step is used to distinguish the eight three-photon GHZ states in the spatial-mode degree of freedom (DOF) without destroying the polarization states. The second step is used to distinguish the eight GHZ states in the polarization DOF. This scheme can be generalized to N-photon spatial-polarization HGSA and has useful applications in quantum communication protocols.

Efficient hyperentangled Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states analysis with cross-Kerr nonlinearity

The entangled states analysis is a very important element for quantum information. It is impossible to unambiguously distinguish the three-photon Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states in polarization, resorting to linear optical elements only. Here, we propose an efficient scheme to complete three-photon hyperentangled GHZ states analysis (HGSA) with the help of the cross-Kerr nonlinearity. The three-photon HGSA scheme can also be generalized to N-photon hyperentangled GHZ states analysis. We discuss the application of the HGSA in the quantum secure direct communication (QSDC) with polarization and spatial-mode degrees of freedom. The results show that the HGSA not only increase the channel capacity but also ensure the unconditional security in long-distance quantum communication.

Complete hyperentangled Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state analysis for polarization and time-bin hyperentanglement

Zhi Zeng

We present an efficient scheme for the complete analysis of hyperentangled Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state in polarization and time-bin degrees of freedom with two steps. Firstly, the polarization GHZ state is distinguished completely and nondestructively, resorting to the controlled phase flip (CPF) gate constructed by the cavity-assisted interaction. Subsequently, the time-bin GHZ state is analyzed by using the preserved polarization entanglement. With the help of CPF gate and self-assisted mechanism, our scheme can be directly generalized to the complete N-photon hyperentangled GHZ state analysis, and it may have potential applications in the hyperentanglement-based quantum communication.

Complete analysis and generation of hyperentangled Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state for photons using quantum-dot spins in optical microcavities

Tie-Jun Wang, Siyu Song, Long, Gui Lu

We propose a scheme for the complete differentiation of 64 three-photon hyperentangled GHZ states in both polarization and spatial-mode degrees of freedoms using the quantum-dot cavity system. The three-photon hyperentangled-GHZ-state-analysis scheme can also be used to generate 3-photon hyperentangled GHZ states. This proposed hyperentangled analysis and generation device can serve as crucial components of the high-capacity, long-distance quantum communication. We use quantum swapping as an example to show the application of this device in quantum communication with polarization and spatial-mode degrees of freedoms. Using numerical calculations, we show that the present scheme may be feasible in strong-coupling regimes with current technologies.

Quantum nondemolition measurement of two-photon Bell-state and three-photon Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger-state based on weak nonlinearities

Ding Dong, Yan Feng-Li

The scheme for quantum nondemolition measurement of two-photon Bell-state and three-photon Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ)-state is proposed based on weak nonlinearities and linear-optics elements. We first describe a scheme of the symmetry analyzer for two-photon Bell-state by using beam splitters and cross-Kerr nonlinear medium. According to this symmetry analyzer for two-photon Bell-state and the controlled-NOT gates we construct a three-photon state analyzer which can completely and nondestructively discriminate eight three-photon GHZ states.
