Effective and Robust Generation of Deterministic Magnon Schrödinger Cat States in the Hybrid System

Yu Wang, Yan Xia, Yi‐Hao Kang

Abstract A scheme is proposed for effective and robust generation of magnon Schrödinger cat states in the hybrid optomagnonical system. The Schrödinger cat states can be generated from the vacuum states and the physical model is easy to be implemented. It is worth noting that the effective normalized coupling strength of the optomagnonical system is able to reach strong coupling regime, which leads to a fast evolution process. Thus, the high fidelity and fast preparation of Schrödinger cat states can be achieved. Besides, the numerical simulations show that the scheme is robust against the decay caused by environment and the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). It is the hope that the scheme may open a new path to the fast generation of Schrödinger cat states in the hybrid system.

Spin squeezing and Schrödinger-cat-state generation in atomic samples with Rydberg blockade

Tomáš Opatrný, Klaus Mølmer

A scheme is proposed to prepare squeezed states and Schr\"odinger-cat-like states of the collective spin degrees of freedom associated with a pair of ground states in an atomic ensemble. The scheme uses an effective Jaynes-Cummings interaction which can be provided by excitation of the atoms to Rydberg states and an effective ${J}_{x}$ interaction implemented by a resonant Raman coupling between the atomic ground states. Dynamical evolution both with a constant Hamiltonian and with adiabatic variation of the two interaction terms is studied. We show that by the application of further resonant laser fields, we can suppress nonadiabatic transfer under the time-varying Hamiltonian and significantly speed up the evolution towards a maximally squeezed, ${J}_{z}=0$, collective spin state.

Schrödinger-cat-like states for quantum fundamental solitons in optical fibers

Demin Yao

The generation of Schr\"odinger-cat-like states for quantum fundamental solitons in optical fibers is investigated. It is shown that the generation is possible at proper times in the dynamical evolution of an appropriately chosen initial state. Such a Schr\"odinger-cat-like state has a minimum number of components, three, and the superposition coefficients of components are all real. Mean values of the field and the intensity operators are calculated and the associated quantum interference behavior characteristic of quantum coherent superposition in the Schr\"odinger-cat-like states is revealed. The effect of dissipation on the Schr\"odinger-cat-like states is analyzed using a beam splitter. The severity with which losses tend to destroy interference between components of the input Schr\"odinger-cat-like state is noted.
