Abstract

We propose a method to describe the evolution of two spins coupled by hyperfine i nteraction in an external time- dependent magnetic field. We apply the approach to the case of hyperfine interaction with axial symmetry, which can be solved exactly in a constant, appropriately oriented magnetic field. In order to t reat t he n onstationary d ynamical p roblem, we modify the time-dependent Schrödinger equation through a change of representation that, by exploiting an instantaneous (adiabatic) basis makes the time-dependent Hamiltonian diagonal at any time instant. The solution of the transformed time-dependent Schrödinger FRVBUJPO in the form of chronologically ordered exponents with transparent pre-exponential coefficients is reported. This solution is highly simplified when an adiabatically varying magnetic field perturbs the system. The approach here proposed may be used for the perturbative treatment of other dynamical problems with no exact solution.

Evolution of Quantum Systems with a Discrete Energy Spectrum in an Adiabatically Varying External Field

Yury Belousov

We introduce a new approach for describing nonstationary quantum systems with a discrete energy spectrum. The essence of this approach is that we describe the evolution of a quantum system in a time-dependent basis. In a sense, this approach is similar to the description of the system in the interaction representation. However, the time dependence of the basic states of the representation is determined not by the evolution operator with a time-independent Hamiltonian but by the eigenstates of the time-dependent Hamiltonian defined at the current time. The time dependence of the basic states of the representation leads to the appearance of an additional term in the Schrödinger equation, which in the case of slowly changing parameters of the Hamiltonian can be considered as a small perturbation. The adiabatic representation is suitable in cases where it is impossible to apply the standard interaction representation. The application of the adiabatic representation is illustrated by the example of two spins connected by a magnetic dipole–dipole interaction in a slowly varying external magnetic field.

Entanglement Evolution of Two-Coupled Spins in a Time-Dependent Rotating Magnetic Field

Zhang Shi-Xun, Qinsheng Zhu, Kuang Xiao-Yu

We study the dynamics evolution of a two-quhit Heisenherg XXX spin chain under a time-dependent rotating magnetic field. Based on the algebraic structure of the non-autonomous system, the exact solution of the Schrödinger equation is obtained by using the method of algebraic dynamics. Based on the time-dependent analytical solution, we further study the entanglement evolution between the two coupled spins for different initial states, and find that the entanglement is determined by the coefficients of the initial state and the coupling constant J of the system.

Strong-field approximation for the Schrödinger equation

Marco Frasca

A perturbation series is derived for the Schr\"odinger equation where the perturbation is permitted to go to \ensuremath{\infty}. Such an asymptotic series can be obtained in a representation where the time evolution of the states is due to the unperturbed part of the Hamiltonian of the problem and the time evolution of the observables is determined by the perturbation, contrary to the interaction picture. The equivalence between the series given by such a picture, and an asymptotic perturbation scheme is given. The method is applied to a spin-1/2 particle in a two-component magnetic field, one component of which, considered as a perturbation, can be time varying. Choosing a constant perturbation we show the equivalence between the exact solution and the approximate one when a component of the magnetic field is much larger than the other. In this case the limit t\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\infty} cannot be taken, as mixed-secular terms appear in the asymptotic series. Taking a linear time-varying dependence for a component of the magnetic field, we get a nonanalytic asymptotic series.

Two Driven Coupled Qubits in a Time Varying Magnetic Field: Exact and Approximate Solutions

E. I. Lashin, Gehad Sadiek, M. Sebawe Abdalla +1 more

We study the dynamics of a two-qubit system coupled through time dependent anisotropic $XYZ$ Heisenberg interaction in presence of a time varying non-uniform external magnetic field. Exact results are presented for the time evolution of the system under certain integrability conditions. Furthermore, the corresponding entanglement of the system is studied for different values of the involved parameters. We found that the time evolution and different properties of entanglement such as amplitude, frequency and profile can be finely tuned by the interplay of the characteristics of the time-dependent magnetic field and exchange coupling. Also we show how the discrete symmetries of the system Hamiltonian, which splits its Hilbert space into two distinct subspaces, can be utilized to deduce the dynamics in one of its two distinct subspaces from the other one. Moreover, approximate results for the time evolution are provided utilizing the rotating wave as well as the perturbation approximations for the special case of either static magnetic field or exchange coupling. We compare the range of validity of the two approximation methods and their effectiveness in treating the considered system and determine their critical parameters.

Berry phase of coupled two arbitrary spins in a time-varying magnetic field

许长谭, 贺明明, Chen Gang

In this paper, we investigate the Berry phase of two coupled arbitrary spins driven by a time-varying magnetic field where the Hamiltonian is explicitly time-dependent. Using a technique of time-dependent gauge transform the Berry phase and time-evolution operator are found explicitly in the adiabatic approximation. The general solutions for arbitrary spins are applied to the spin-1/2 system as an example of explanation.

A modified time-dependent perturbation approach to quantum dynamics and its application to relaxation phenomena in magnetic molecules

César Augusto Dartora, G. G. Cabrera, Kleber Zuza Nobrega

We introduce a modified version of the interaction picture applicable to situations in which the nonperturbed Hamiltonian is time-dependent but can be diagonalized by the same basis of states at all times. We probe the method using a simple model Hamiltonian to study the spin dynamics of molecular magnets with time-dependent fields. Fully quantum mechanical calculations show the superiority of our method compared to the usual time-dependent perturbation theory. Our approach takes into account time-dependent fields and converges rapidly to the exact solution.
