Abstract

A simple approximation for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) over generalized-K fading channels is developed. This approximation becomes tighter as the average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the wiretap channel decreases. Based on this simple expression, we also analyze the asymptotic SOP in the high SNR region of the main channel. Besides simplifying the SOP expression significantly, this asymptotic SOP expression reveals the secrecy diversity order in a general case. Numerical results demonstrate the high accuracy of our proposed approximation results.

Secrecy Analysis in SWIPT Systems Over Generalized-$K$ Fading Channels

Zhijie Wang, Hui Zhao, Shuai Wang +2 more

In this letter, we investigate the secrecy performance of the simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) system over generalized-K fading channels. After analyzing the communications scenario, we derive the closedform expression for the secrecy outage probability (SOP), and give some simplified expressions for SOP in some special cases. Effective secrecy throughput is also investigated to capture the amount of secure transmitted information. To derive the diversity order, the asymptotic SOP is also analyzed when the average signal-to-noise ratio is sufficiently large. Finally, numerical results are used to validate the correctness of our derived expressions.

On the Secrecy Performance Analysis of SIMO Systems Over $\kappa$ – $\mu$ Fading Channels

Jules Merlin Moualeu, Walaa Hamouda

In this letter, the secrecy performance of single-input multiple-output systems over the generalized$\kappa$–$\mu$fading channels is analyzed. Novel expressions for the average secrecy capacity and the secure outage probability (SOP) are derived. Moreover, simple and explicit expressions of the asymptotic SOP at high signal-to-noise ratio are given in an effort to gain some valuable insights on how various system parameters affect the secrecy performance. The proposed mathematical analysis is compared with Monte–Carlo simulation to verify the accuracy of the derivation.

Secrecy Analysis in DF Relay Over Generalized-$K$ Fading Channels

Hui Zhao, Zhedong Liu, Liang Yang +1 more

In this paper, we analyze the secrecy performance of the decode-and-forward (DF) relay system in generalized-K fading channels. In a typical four-node communications model, a source (S) sends confidential information to a destination (D) via a relay (R) using DF strategy in two time slots, while an eavesdropper (E) wants to overhear the information from S to D over generalized-K fading channels. To be more realistic, we assume that E can receive the signals of two time slots, and there is no direct link between S and D because of heavy fading. Based on those assumptions, we derive closed-form expressions for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) and ergodic secrecy capacity (ESC) by using a tight approximate probability density function of the generalized-K model. Furthermore, asymptotic expressions for the SOP and ESC are also derived in the high signal-to-noise ratio region, not only because we can get some insights about SOP and ESC, but also because expressions for SOP and ESC can be simplified significantly. The single relay system is subsequently extended into a multi-relay system, where the asymptotic SOP analysis of three proposed relay selection strategies is investigated. Moreover, the security-reliability tradeoff analysis in the multi-relay system is also presented given that S adopts a constant code rate. Finally, the Monte-Carlo simulation is used to demonstrate the accuracy of the derived closed-form expressions.

Secrecy Characteristics With Assistance of Mixture Gamma Distribution

Long Kong, Georges Kaddoum

Considering the fact that the mixture gamma (MG) distribution is a general model that can be used to elaborate most well-known distributions, including small-scale, large-scale, and composite fadings, this letter studies the security issue when the received signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) follow MG distributions. Closed-form expressions for secrecy metrics including the secrecy outage probability (SOP), the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity (PNZ), and the average secrecy capacity (ASC), are derived. Monte-Carlo simulations are presented to corroborate the accuracy of our derived results. Our derived secrecy metrics provide a general and unified analysis framework for the quick evaluation of the secrecy issue over wireless channels, even when the main channel and wiretap channel are subject to different wireless channels.

Secrecy Performance of α − κ − μ Shadowed Fading Channel

A. S. M. Badrudduza, Sheikh Habibul Islam, Milton Kumar Kundu +1 more

In this paper, the physical layer security aspects of a wireless framework over α−κ−μ shadowed (AKMS) fading channel are examined by acquiring closed-form novel expressions of average secrecy capacity, secure outage probability (SOP), and strictly positive secrecy capacity. The lower bound of SOP is derived along with the asymptotic expression of SOP at the high signal-to-noise ratio regime in order to achieve secrecy diversity gain. Capitalizing on these expressions, the consequences due to the simultaneous occurrence of fading and shadowing are quantified. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are demonstrated to assess the correctness of the expressions.

Secrecy Analysis Over Correlated Generalized Gamma Fading Channels

Youssef M. Eldokmak, Mahmoud H. Ismail, Mohamed S. Hassan

In this paper, we analyze the secrecy performance assuming correlated generalized gamma fading for the legitimate and eavesdropper channels. Specifically, we derive expressions for the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity, a lower bound on the secrecy outage probability and the average secrecy capacity in case of high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Monte Carlo simulations were then run verifying the accuracy of our analysis.
