Abstract

In this paper, the physical layer security aspects of a wireless framework over α−κ−μ shadowed (AKMS) fading channel are examined by acquiring closed-form novel expressions of average secrecy capacity, secure outage probability (SOP), and strictly positive secrecy capacity. The lower bound of SOP is derived along with the asymptotic expression of SOP at the high signal-to-noise ratio regime in order to achieve secrecy diversity gain. Capitalizing on these expressions, the consequences due to the simultaneous occurrence of fading and shadowing are quantified. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are demonstrated to assess the correctness of the expressions.

Physical Layer Security Over $\alpha$ - $\kappa$ - $\mu$ and $\alpha$ - $\eta$ - $\mu$ Fading Channels

Jules Merlin Moualeu, Daniel Benevides da Costa, Walaa Hamouda +2 more

In this correspondence, the physical layer security of wireless systems under generalized α-κ-μ and α-η-μ fading with arbitrary fading parameters is analyzed in terms of the secrecy outage probability (SOP). To this end, novel analytical expressions for the lower bound of the SOP are derived. Moreover, an asymptotic secrecy analysis is investigated for each corresponding SOP to get the secrecy diversity gain. Monte Carlo simulations are provided to assess the accuracy of the proposed analytical framework.

Secrecy Analysis of Physical Layer over $κ-μ$ Shadowed Fading Scenarios

Hussien Al‐Hmood, Hamed Saffa Al-Raweshidy

In this paper, the secrecy analysis of physical layer when both the main and wiretap channels undergo $κ-μ$ shadowed fading channel is investigated. In particular, the average secrecy capacity (ASC), secure outage probability (SOP), the lower bound of SOP (SOP$^L$), and the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC) are derived by using the classic Wyner's wiretap model. Two different scenarios for the fading parameters, i.e., $μ$ and $m$ which represents the shadowing impact have been studied. These parameters are chosen first as arbitrary numbers, thus the performance metrics are expressed in single infinite series with multivariate Meijer $G$-function. In the second scenario, both the aforementioned fading parameters are assumed to be integer numbers in order to obtain the derived results in simple exact closed-form analytic mathematically tractable expressions. The numerical results of this analysis are verified via Monte Carlo simulations.

Performance analysis of secure communications over α-μ/κ-μ fading channels

Jules Merlin Moualeu, Walaa Hamouda

In this paper, the performance for physical-layer (PHY) security of a wireless communication system in mixed α-μ and κ-μ fading channels is analyzed. The system under consideration consists of a transmitter and a legitimate receiver in the presence of an eavesdropper, wherein the main channel is subject to α -μ fading while the wiretap channel undergoes κ-μ fading. We assume that the legitimate users and the eavesdropper are equipped with a single antenna. We derive a novel analytical expression for the lower bound of secure outage probability (SOP). Next, we investigate the asymptotic behavior of the SOP for high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the main channel. Finally, we provide Monte-Carlo simulations to verify our proposed analytical framework.

Comprehensive Framework for Physical Layer Analysis over Generalized-Lognormal composite Fading channels

Rahul Maurya, Puspraj Singh Chauhan, Vimal Bhatia +1 more

Abstract Physical layer security is a feasible solution to improve wireless communication secrecy against eavesdropping threats. Within this framework, this work examines the secrecy performance of a wireless link subjected to eavesdropping over generalized composite fading environments, specifically using the α-η-µ/Lognormal and α-κ-µ/Lognormal distributions. Closed-form results are derived for key secrecy performance metrics, including the average secrecy capacity (ASC), a lower bound on the secrecy outage probability SOPL, and the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC). Additionally, asymptotic analyses of ASC, SOPL, and SPSC are presented in the high-SNR regime to yield simplified insights into system behavior. The analysis accommodates arbitrary and independent fading conditions for the main and eavesdropper channels, thereby enabling a comprehensive evaluation of the impact of various channel parameters. Ultimately, all analytical outcomes are corroborated using comprehensive Monte Carlo simulations, affirming their precision and relevance.

Secrecy Performance Analysis of SIMO Systems Over Correlated $\kappa$ –$\mu$ Shadowed Fading Channels

Jiangfeng Sun, Hongxia Bie, Xingwang Li +3 more

In this paper, the secrecy performance of single-input-multiple-output systems over correlated κ-μ shadowed fading channels is investigated. In particular, based on the classic Wyner's wiretap model, we derive analytical expressions for secure outage probability (SOP) and the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC) over correlated κ-μ shadowed fading channels. In order to further study the impact of channel parameters on the secrecy performance, novel SOP and the probability of SPSC over independent and identically distributed κ-μ shadowed fading channels are also obtained. In addition, we discuss the asymptotic expressions of the SOP and the SPSC. The match between the analytical results and simulations is excellent for all parameters under considerations. It is interesting to find that the results show that when the signal-to-noise ratio of the main channel is lower than that of the eavesdropping channel, the larger value of correlation coefficient is helpful to improve the secrecy performance and vice versa.

Analysis of secrecy performance under double shadowed -

Rajkishur Mudoi, Damepaia Lato

In this paper, the physical layer security (PLS) under the double shadowed κ-μ fading channel is investigated. Being a composite fading channel model, it is a realistic representation of the propagation environment in which wireless signals experience a complex interplay of different phenomena. The mathematical statements of the secrecy outage probability (SOP) and the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity (PNSC) have been investigated by considering one legitimate receiver and one eavesdropper listening to the source transmitting confidential information. Based on the obtained mathematical expressions, the secrecy performance metrics are analysed and the results are plotted for both the SOP and the PNSC. It can be observed that as the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the legitimate user increases, the SOP reduces and the secrecy capacity increases for the double shadowed κ-μ distributions.
