Comment on “Inductive entanglement classification of four qubits under stochastic local operations and classical communication”

Abstract

Lamata et al. have presented an entanglement classification of four qubits under stochastic local operation and classical communication (SLOCC) based on an inductive approach [Phys. Rev. A 75, 022318 (2007)]. While it works well for three qubits, we show that some of the families for four qubits have overlaps and hence this approach is not valid for entanglement classification of four or more qubits under SLOCC.

Number of superclasses of four-qubit entangled states under the inductive entanglement classification

Miriam Backens

L. Lamata et al. use an inductive approach to classify the entangled pure states of four qubits under stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) [Phys. Rev. A 75, 022318 (2007)]. The inductive method yields a priori ten entanglement superclasses, of which they discard three as empty. One of the remaining superclasses is split into two, resulting in eight superclasses of genuine four-qubit entanglement. Here, we show that two of the three discarded superclasses are in fact nonempty and should have been retained. We give explicit expressions for the canonical states of those superclasses, up to SLOCC and qubit permutations. Furthermore, we confirm that the third discarded superclass is indeed empty, yielding a total of ten superclasses of genuine four-qubit entanglement under the inductive classification scheme.

Classification of General n -Qubit States under Stochastic Local Operations and Classical Communication in Terms of the Rank of Coefficient Matrix

Xiangrong Li, Dafa Li

We solve the entanglement classification under stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) for general n-qubit states. For two arbitrary pure n-qubit states connected via local operations, we establish an equation between the two coefficient matrices associated with the states. The rank of the coefficient matrix is preserved under SLOCC and gives rise to a simple way of partitioning all the pure states of n qubits into different families of entanglement classes, as exemplified here. When applied to the symmetric states, this approach reveals that all the Dicke states |ℓ,n> with ℓ=1,…,[n/2] are inequivalent under SLOCC.

Stochastic local operations and classical communication invariants via square matrix

Xin-Wei Zha, Irfan Ahmed, Da Zhang +2 more

Abstract In this paper, we raise a few corrections from the Li et al paper (2015 Phys. Rev . A 91 012302). We obtain some stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) invariants from second degree to sixth degree by defining square matrices. The relation of SLOCC invariants and the character polynomial of the square matrix are defined for three and four qubit states. This method comes as a useful resource in determining SLOCC invariants for n-qubit states.

Local unitary equivalence of the SLOCC class of three qubits

Dafa Li, Yu Jing Guo

Abstract Classification of multipartite pure states via the local unitary (LU) equivalence or the stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) equivalence is a fundamental task in investigating multipartite entanglement. It is shown in the seminal paper (2000 Phys . Rev . A 62 062314) that pure states of three qubits can be partitioned into six SLOCC classes. We explore here a necessary and sufficient condition for LU equivalence of pure states for any SLOCC class via Acín et al ’s Schmidt coefficients (ASC) of three qubits in (2000 Phys. Rev. Lett. 85 1560). We show that the LU equivalent states in W SLOCC class have the same ASC irrespective of phases while there are generally two different ASCs for the LU equivalent states in GHZ SLOCC class (irrespective of phases for some subclass). Consequently, we obtain a complete LU classification of three qubit pure states in the sense of ASC. Moreover, we discuss the choice among the different ASCs and then propose an approach to find a unique ASC for any given three qubit pure state. At last we analyse the entanglement/separability of the marginal states of the two inequivalent genuine entangled SLOCC classes. We find that any bipartite marginal states of the W SLOCC class are entangled, and that of the GHZ SLOCC class has eight different cases which are depend on the ASCs.

Operational entanglement families of symmetric mixed N -qubit states

Thierry Bastin, Pierre Mathonet, E. Solano

We introduce an operational entanglement classification of symmetric mixed states for an arbitrary number of qubits based on stochastic local operations assisted with classical communication (SLOCC operations). We define families of SLOCC entanglement classes successively embedded into each other, we prove that they are of nonzero measure, and we construct witness operators to distinguish them. Moreover, we discuss how arbitrary symmetric mixed states can be realized in the laboratory via a one-to-one correspondence between well-defined sets of controllable parameters and the corresponding entanglement families.

Entanglement classification via a single entanglement measure

Adam Burchardt, Gonçalo M. Quinta, Rui André

We show that a single polynomial entanglement measure is enough to verify equivalence between generic $n$-qubit states under stochastic local operations with classical communication (SLOCC). SLOCC operations may be represented geometrically by M\"obius transformations on the roots of the entanglement measure on the Bloch sphere. Moreover, we show how the roots of the three-tangle measure classify four-qubit generic states, and propose a method to obtain the normal form of a four-qubit state, which bypasses the possibly infinite iterative procedure.
